ADA2O DRAMA – In this course, students will deepen their
understanding of stage movement, mime and improvisation
through musical theatre and mask work. This course is
strongly recommended as a prerequisite for ADA3M.
AMG2O INTRODUCTION TO GUITAR– This course is for
students with no previous guitar experience. Students are
instructed in basic guitar techniques and learn to read chord
charts, tab, and standard notation. All topics are taught
within the context of musical theory in order to provide
students with a deeper understanding of guitar technique.
AMU2O INSTRUMENTAL MUSIC– This course builds upon
the performance skills acquired in AMU10 . Those who
have not taken music in grade 9 must seek the permission
of the instructor. Participation in the afterschool band
program is strongly encouraged.
AVI2ON VISUAL ARTS – BEGINNERS – In this course,
students will create a series of artworks that will reinforce
an understanding of the elements and principles of art. This
course is geared for students who would like to learn about
Art, but have not taken AVI1O.
AVI2O VISUAL ARTS – EXPERIENCED – This course is for
students who have completed AVI1O and would like to
further develop their skills in Art. This course provides a
very good foundation for AVI3M.
BBI2O INTRODUCTION TO BUSINESS – Introduction to
Business teaches you how businesses develop, produce,
account for and market their products, as well as how to
make personal finance decisions about investing and saving
your money and using credit wisely.
ENG2D ACADEMIC ENGLISH – ENG 2D invites students to
read a variety of literary texts, including poetry, short
stories, novels and drama. A number of analytical
techniques are introduced in order to help students
construct meaning from what they read. Comparative
writing is the emphasized skill, and students will complete
an independent study unit where they compare and
contrast two novels. The featured Shakespearean play is
Romeo and Juliet.
ENG2P ENGLISH – Students will develop their literacy skills
and prepare for The Ontario Literacy Test by reading a
variety of texts including drama, articles, graphic texts, on
line information sources, and a novel. Students will work
on reading comprehension strategies, oral presentation
skills, short responses, summaries, listening skills, news
articles opinion pieces, and informational texts.
ENG2L LOCALLY DEVELOPED ENGLISH – Designed to
improve and build on the student’s reading, writing,
listening, and thinking skills using graphic texts, current
news events, and a variety of media.
GLC2O CAREER STUDIES (.5 credit) - This grade ten half
credit course is taken during the same semester as CHV 2O
– Civics. You must take both courses. This course helps
students to explore their career interests.
GLE3O LEARNING STRATEGIES (ASD SUPPORT)
CHV2O CIVICS – (.5 credit) This grade ten half credit course
is taken during the same semester as GLC2O Careers. Civics
is a course where you have a chance to form and voice
opinions about how you think that our country should be
run, and why.
CHC2D Canadian History – “By learning from your past you
can make the best choices in the present and fulfill your
dreams in the future.” Imagine what you are capable of by
learning about the past of all of Canada?
CHC2P – Canadian History – Canadian History gives you an
overview of how Canada participated in or was affected by
world events like the two world wars. We also learn about

how Canada developed and changed over the 20 century.
CHC2L Canadian History - This course explores what it

means to be Canadian by tracing major events of the 20
century.
FSF2D (ACADEMIC)/ FSF2P (APPLIED) FRENCH – In this
course, students will learn the imperfect and conditional
tenses as well as gain a deeper understanding of French
speaking countries.
MPM2D PRINCIPLES OF MATHEMATICS – This course is
intended for student to develop skills needed for college or
university pathways that lead to mathematics related
programs. The pace is quick and daily homework can be
expected. Successful completion of MPM1D with at least
70% is recommended.
MFM2P FOUNDATIONS OF MATHEMATICS – This course is
intended for students who are going on to college in
engineering, science, technology or in a business discipline.
65% in MFM 1P is recommended.
MAT2L MATHEMATICS – ESSENTIALS – This course is
designed to help students who need to catch up on and
continue to develop their fundamental math skills.
PPL2O - CO-ED, PPL2OX (Female), PPL2OY (Male) HEALTHY
ACTIVE LIVING – Students will continue to improve their
personal fitness through a variety of sports & fitness
activities. An O.D.S.S. physical education uniform will be
required.
SNC2D ACADEMIC SCIENCE – An advanced course to
expose students to animal and plant anatomy, chemistry,
optics and climate change. Extensive lab work and
theoretical learning prepares you for university level
courses.
SNC2P SCIENCE - A course intended to expose students to
human cells and anatomy, chemistry, optics and climate
change. Research investigations and lab work will prepare
you for future college courses.
SNC2L SCIENCE – LOCALLY DEVELOPED SCIENCE – This
course emphasizes reinforcing and strengthening science
related knowledge and skills, including scientific inquiry,
critical thinking and the relationship between science,
society and the environment.
TTJ2O1 TRANSPORTATION – This course introduces
students to automotive theory and hands-on experience.
TDJ2O1 TECHNOLOGICAL DESIGN – This course introduces
students to elements of design.
TFJ2O1 HOSPITALITY/TOURISM (COOKING) – This hands-on
course provides students with practical culinary skills.
$30.00 course fee.
TGJ2O1 COMMUNICATIONS TECHNOLOGY – Students gain
practical skills in radio broadcasting and computer graphic
design.
TMJ2O1 MECHANICAL MANUFACTURING TECHNOLOGY –
Mechanical Manufacturing is a shop that allows you to work
with metal using machine shop techniques and skills.
$20.00 course fee.
TMJ2O2 MANUFACTURING TECHNOLOGY – This course
introduces practical welding concepts. Students will learn
how to use various welding equipment safely. $25.00
course fee.
TCJ2O1 CONSTRUCTION TECHNOLOGY – This is an
introductory construction course. $25.00 course fee.
TCJ2O2 Construction Technology – Woodworking – This is
an introductory woodworking course. $20.00 course fee.
TXJ2O1 Hairstyling and Aesthetics – This is an introductory
hairstyling and aesthetics course. $25.00 course fee.
