World Scholars – Madrid Enrollment Checklist By May 15 Complete the Study Abroad Application for 2016 Fall World Scholars – Madrid, Spain. (link live 4/15). In order to log in, you will need your UDID and PIN. Submit ORIGINAL documents to UD for your student visa application. (See Visa Checklist for details.) The University of Delaware will batch all students’ documents and submit them to the Consulate. UD will distribute the student visas and passports to World Scholars at New Student Orientation on June 20. Make flight arrangements via Student Universe or directly with the airline. UD recommends purchasing trip insurance along with your tickets. Students wishing to fly with a representative from the University of Delaware must book the following flights: • 8/26/2016, American Airlines #740, departs PHL 6:45 p.m. & arrives MAD 8/27. 8:20 a.m. • 12/22/2016, American Airlines #741, departs MAD 1:05 p.m. & arrives PHL 3:55 p.m. May 2 Register for Summer NSO on June 20. Registration link will be available on your student portal: www.udel.edu/mybluehenhome. Be sure to register no later than June 13. May 3 Complete the Math Placement Program – this needs to be completed prior to attending New Student Orientation on June 20. May 20-­‐June 1 Review Available Courses (link live 4/15) June 1-­‐15 Meet virtually with your academic advisor to select fall courses By June 15 Register with HTH Insurance. IGS will enroll you in the HTH Health Insurance Plan that is included with your program fee (details here). After enrollment, HTH will send you an automated email. Follow the steps in the email to log on to the HTH website and register. June 20 Attend World Scholars New Student Orientation in Newark, Delaware. Students unable to attend NSO on June 20 must email Amy Greenwald Foley to schedule an individual meeting. By July 10 Complete and submit via “My Checklist” within your Study Abroad portal: • TRAVEL ITINERARY FORM – Submit your flight itinerary to IGS. • UPDATE PASSPORT INFO / EMERGENCY CONTACT / ADDRESSES – Confirm that all info is correct. • ORIENTATION QUIZ AND PRE-­‐ASSESSMENT – Read and complete. It will take about 30 min. By August 1 Pay your UD Bill By August 15 Prepare for your time abroad by: • Downloading a copy of the INTERNATIONAL SOS CARD (link live 4/15) • Logging into the UD portal on the SOS website to sign up for in-­‐country alerts and safety information. • Reading the Center for Disease Control and Department of State information regarding the regions and countries that you'll visit August 26 Depart for Madrid December 22 Return to the U.S. UD World Scholars – Madrid Visa Checklist Students must submit the following documents to the University of Delaware by May 15, 2016. Mail all documents to: World Scholars Program, 44 Kent Way, Newark, DE 19716. Students whose documents are not received by UD by May 20 will be responsible for applying for a student visa on their own. The University of Delaware cannot guarantee that students who submit applications on their own will have student visas in advance of their travel dates this fall. Scholars who do not have student visas by August 26 will not be permitted to travel to Spain with the University of Delaware. Documents Needed: 1. Completed Application for Schengen Visa . 2. Original and photocopy of Passport, valid for a minimum of three months after the expected visa stay and with at least one blank page available. 3. One passport size photograph in color, 2 x 2 inches (51 x 51 mm) in size, printed on matte or glossy photo quality paper, taken within the last 6 months to reflect your current appearance and in front of a plain white or off-­‐white background. 4. Non-­‐U.S. citizens must provide an original and photocopy of an Alien residence card (Green Card) or residence visa valid in the U.S. (except B1/B2). 5. Confirmed reservation of your airline ticket (round-­‐trip). Just a flight reservation is required. It is highly recommended not to confirm the reservation or buy the tickets until you get your visa. 6. A letter of enrollment from your university. (UD will provide.) 7. Proof of financial status, i.e. a major credit card along with the latest statement as well as your three last bank statements with the balance information in dollars or euros. 8. Travel medical insurance document for Spain with a minimum coverage of €30,000 euros (or its equivalent in USD) and "repatriation coverage." (UD will provide.) 9. A USPS money order in the amount of $160 to pay the non-­‐refundable fee. Non-­‐U.S. citizens must pay a different fee, found online. 10. Students under the age of 18 at time of application (May 15, 2016) must also submit a notarized authorization letter to apply for a visa from the parents or custodians is required.
