General Information:

Nutrition is a specialized field which focuses upon the nutritional needs and conditions of all kinds of people and conditions. Nutrition explores how nutrients, and the foods from which they are derived, aid the body in growth and development and in maintaining health and wellness. Dietitians are educators, counselors, consultants and/or managers working in diverse environments ranging from hospitals to large corporations. The nutrition program offers excellent preparation in the basic sciences and liberal education, a background in food science, and a focus on human needs related to nutrition. People who choose nutrition as a major have a preference for providing care for individuals as well as for participating in a role of the medical research in their field. These people enjoy helping others and receive a feeling of satisfaction from the knowledge that they have a positive impact in the lives of others. A post-baccalaureate internship is required to become a

Registered Dietician.
