The objective of this workshop or teach-in is to bring together students, faculty and the Syracuse Community to
appreciate the implications of global warming and to explore individual and community actions and alternatives that
are available.
Teach-in Date and Times: This teach-in will be held on February 9, 2002, 9:00 am-5:30 pm.
Short Course Location: Nifkin Lounge, SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry, Syracuse, NY. Call for Posters, Displays, and Exhibits: Posters, displays and exhibits relating to the teach-in topics are
invited. We have facilities for 4-ft by 4-ft posters and 6-ft tabletop displays. Please contact ESF Continuing Education
if you have additional needs (e.g. space, electrical supply...).

Global Warming and Effects on the Antarctic's Peninsula Region: Eugene Domack, Hamilton College

Dr. Gene Domack has 23 years of Antarctic experience the last 14 in the Peninsula region. His interests lie
in understanding the natural record of environmental variability locked in glacial marine sediments in
fjords and inner coastal basins on both sides of the Peninsula. He currently is on the Distinguished
Speaker List of the Ocean Drilling Program, serves on the Antarctic Research Vessel Oversight Committee,
and is currently investigating the paleorecord of Antarctica's disintegrating ice shelves. Domack is a
member of the Sedimentary Research Society, American Geophysical Union, International Glaciological
Society, and the American Quaternary Association. Panel on Global Warming and Effects:

Registration Information
To Register: Preregistration is required. Simply fill out and mail the registration form with your registration fee. You
may register by phone by calling ESF Continuing Education at (315) 470-6891; or fax to (315) 470-6890.
Registration fee: Early registrations, received by February 1 are eligible for the discount fee of $10. Government or
corporate purchase orders received by the deadline also qualify for the early discount. If received after February 1, the
full fee is $15. The meeting fee included refreshments, and materials. Lunch: $12 additional; $5 for students. (Please
feel free to bring your own lunch.) Fees are payable to SUNY-ESF. VISA or Mastercard also accepted.
Refunds: SUNY-ESF reserves the right to cancel any program in the event of insufficient registrations. A full refund will
be given if a program is canceled. Participants who wish to withdraw must give written notice one week in advance to
receive a full refund. After that date no refunds are possible due to catering guarantees. Substitutions are permissible at
any time.
