FOR ELEMENTARY CERTIFICATION

The Special Education endorsement major in Emotional Impairments for an Elementary teaching certificate consists of a minimum of 49 credits. Most Special Education majors complete a Liberal

Arts Substantive minor. Candidates for certification in this major must pass the Michigan Test for

Teacher Certification (MTTC) in Emotionally Impaired (Test #59). You must demonstrate your knowledge in the following categories:

Understanding Students with Emotional Impairments

2.

Assessing Students with E.I. & Developing Individualized Programs

3.

Promoting Development and Learning in Students with E. I.

4.

Working in the Professional Environment

You may access a study guide at the MTTC testing site; the courses below have been selected and designed so that you will be well prepared for the test.

In order to take the current

Elementary Test #83 (required for all elementary and special education candidates ), students must register, take, and pass this test by July, 2013.
