COURSE DESCRIPTION: Structure and function of systems involved with regulation,
maintenance and continuity, endocrine, sensory, cardiovascular, reproduction, and renal
systems. Lecture three hours, laboratory three hours. $90 Fee
Prerequisite: BIOL 3408

COURSE OUTCOME COMPETENCIES:
The student will be able to:

Explain the integrated function of the interdependent organ systems as well as the operation of
these systems independently.
Use correct and useful, working vocabulary within the disciplines of anatomy and physiology

Identify , through integrated lectures and laboratory exercises, the basic structures and
mechanisms in homeostasis and to have a knowledge base of how disturbances in homeostatic
mechanisms produce disease(s).
ATTENDANCE REQUIREMENTS:
Students are responsible for all material covered in class(lecture and laboratory), as well as all assigned
work (textbook, study problems, homework exercises). Students who miss more than 25% of the
lecture/lab days…. may be dropped from the class (at the discretion of the instructor). Students must
have good class attendance to be successful in this course. No make-up exams will be given, unless
arrangements are made in advance of foreseen absences. Emergencies accepted.
Attendance/participation will constitute a portion of the total course grade.

Students shall have protection through orderly procedures against prejudices or capricious
academic evaluation. A student who believes that he or she has not been held to realistic
academic standards, just evaluation procedures, or appropriate grading, may appeal the final
grade given in the course by using the student grade appeal process described in the Academic
Catalog. Appeals may not be made for advanced placement examinations or course
bypass examinations. Appeals are limited to the final course grade, which may be upheld,
raised, or lowered at any stage of the appeal process. Any recommendation to lower a course
grade must be submitted through the Executive Vice President/Provost to the Faculty Assembly
Grade Appeals Committee for review and approval. The Faculty Assembly Grade Appeals
Committee may instruct that the course grade be upheld, raised, or lowered to a more proper
evaluation.

CELL PHONES:
There will be NO class disruptions due to cell phones. Ringers must be turned off prior to class.
If you have an emergency, quietly leave the classroom. If disruptions occur, points may be
deducted from your final grade. If examinations or quizzes require a calculator, bring one that
is NOT integrated with your cell phone.
COURSE PREPARATIONS:
Students should allow a very minimum of 4-12 hours per week for reading, reviewing, studying,
homework exercises. Reading/ study areas will be announced prior to lecture/lab class times.
