Home
A module mounting assembly, rectifier and/or solar converter modules, and
controller comprise a -48 VDC power system designed to power a load while
charging a positive grounded battery. This system is capable of operating in a battery-less
installation or off battery for maintenance purposes. The system is designed for operation
with the positive output grounded.
The NetSure Power System utilizing this equipment is an integrated power system containing
rectifiers, optional solar converters, optional -48 VDC to +24 VDC converters, intelligent
control, metering, and monitoring. A NetSure Power System, utilizing this equipment,
typically consists of...

Module Mounting Assembly
The system contains one or more module
mounting assemblies, which may house
rectifier modules, optional solar converter
modules, optional -48 VDC to +24 VDC
converter modules, and a controller
(depending on configuration, see “List
Descriptions” starting on page 15).
•
Rectifier Modules
The system contains rectifier modules, which provide load power, battery float current,
and battery recharge current during normal operating conditions. Refer to the Rectifier
Instructions (UM1R482000E3) for more information.
•
Optional Solar Converter Modules
The system may contain solar converter modules (depending on configuration, see “List
Descriptions” starting on page 15), which provide load power, battery float current, and
battery recharge current during solar conditions. Refer to the Solar Converter
Instructions (UM1S482000E3) for more information.
•
Optional -48 VDC to +24 VDC Converter Modules
Where +24 VDC load power is also required, converter modules are available (depending
on configuration, see “List Descriptions” on page 15). These converters operate from the
main -48 VDC system bus to provide +24 VDC load power. Refer to the Converter
Instructions (UM1C48241500) for more information.

Controller
The controller controls the operation of the rectifier, solar converter, and -48 VDC to +24
VDC converter modules. The controller also provides power system control, metering,
monitoring, and alarm functions. Note: This document does not describe the controller.
Refer to the Power System SAG (System Application Guide) and separate Controller
User Manual for controller information.

Module Mounting Assembly Frame Grounding
Located on the rear of the module mounting assembly are terminals for a ground connection (M4 hardware
included). See Figure 1 through Figure 10.
For module mounting assembly grounding requirements, refer to the current edition of the American National
Standards Institute (ANSI) approved National Fire Protection Association's (NFPA) National Electrical Code
(NEC), applicable local codes, and your specific site requirements.
Rectifier AC Input Connections
There are several options to provide rectifier AC inputs to the module mounting assembly.
1) 588705300 List 01, 02, 04, 11, 12, 14, 21, 22, 24, 31, 32, 34, 41, 42, 44: AC input leads are factory
connected from the module mounting assembly AC input terminals to an AC input termination
assembly provided in the associated system or equipment cabinet. Refer to the associated system or
equipment cabinet documentation for connection details to the AC input termination assembly. Refer
to Figure 1, Figure 3, Figure 5, Figure 7, and Figure 9 for module mounting assembly rectifier AC
input terminal location. Refer to the associated system or equipment cabinet documentation and
Table 1 for recommended AC input branch circuit protection and wire size.
2) 588705300 List 03, 05, 13, 15, 23, 25, 33, 35, 43, 45: The module mounting assembly is equipped
with plug-in AC input connectors located on the rear of the assembly. Mating connectors and wire
harnesses are available (see “Rectifier AC Input / Solar Converter DC Input Cable Assemblies” on
page 28 and “Rectifier AC Input Line Cords” on page 29). Refer to Figure 2, Figure 4, Figure 6,
Figure 8, and Figure 10 for module mounting assembly rectifier AC input terminal location.
Refer to Table 2 for recommended AC input branch circuit protection when using the supplied rectifier
AC input cable assemblies (see “Rectifier AC Input / Solar Converter DC Input Cable Assemblies” on
page 28).
Refer to Table 3 for recommended AC input branch circuit protection when using the supplied rectifier
AC input line cords (see “Rectifier AC Input Line Cords” on page 29).

mounting assembly. Frame ground terminals must be connected to earth ground, not power system neutral.
Equipment grounding conductor size based on recommendations of the NEC Table 250-122 for copper wire. If
aluminum or copper clad aluminum grounding conductor is used, refer to Table 250-122 for increased conductor
size. For operation in countries where the NEC is not recognized, follow applicable codes.

Solar Converter DC Input Connections
There are several options to provide solar converter DC inputs to the module mounting assembly.
1) 588705300 List 01, 02, 04, 11, 12, 14, 21, 22, 24, 31, 32, 34, 41, 42, 44: DC input leads are factory
connected from the module mounting assembly DC input terminals to a DC input termination
assembly provided in the associated system or equipment cabinet. Refer to the associated system or
equipment cabinet documentation for connection details to the DC input termination assembly. Refer
to Figure 1, Figure 3, Figure 5, Figure 7, and Figure 9 for module mounting assembly solar converter
DC input terminal location. Refer to the associated system or equipment cabinet documentation and
Table 4 for recommended DC input branch circuit protection and wire size.
Note: Solar converter modules can only be installed in mounting positions #1, #2, or #3 of Lists 01,
02, and 04.
2) 588705300 List 03, 05, 13, 15, 23, 25, 33, 35, 43, 45: The module mounting assembly is equipped
with plug-in DC input connectors located on the rear of the assembly. Mating connectors and wire
harnesses are available (see “Rectifier AC Input / Solar Converter DC Input Cable Assemblies” on
page 28). Refer to Figure 2, Figure 4, Figure 6, Figure 8, and Figure 10 for module mounting
assembly solar converter DC input terminal location. Refer to Table 5 for recommended DC input
branch circuit protection.
Note: When using input cable assemblies, solar converter modules can only be mounted in positions
1 and 2 of Lists 03 and 05.

1.2.6 Audible Noise:
(A) For One Rectifier Module: Less than 50 dB(A) at <25 °C, measured at 60cm (2’) distance.
(B) For Twelve Rectifier Modules: Less than 55 dB with 12 rectifiers mounted in system at
≤25 °C, measured at 1 m (3’) distance in front of system and at same horizontal line of the
middle of system.
1.2.7 Ventilation Requirements:
(A) Ventilation: A module mounting assembly must be mounted so ventilating openings are not
blocked and temperature of the air entering the assembly does not exceed the Operating
Ambient Temperature Range stated above. Refer also to “Mounting” below.
Note: Minimum spacing specified for ventilation may not permit replacement of certain
components such as busbars or module mounting assemblies.

(B) Stacking Considerations: This system is designed for front to back ventilation to
facilitate stacking of module mounting assemblies, one above the other, in an
equipment rack. There is no spacing requirement between stacked module mounting
assemblies of a single system.
Mounting: The module mounting assembly is designed for mounting in a 19” or 23” wide relay
rack (depending on assembly configuration) with 1 inch or 1-3/4 inch multiple drilling. The
standard mounting angles are adjustable for front projection (flush, 1”, 2”, 3”, 4”, 5”, or 6”). (9”
projection available with system specific mounting angles.) Refer to "Overall Dimensions" on
page 50.

This product is intended only for installation in a restricted access location on or above a
non-combustible surface.
•
This product must be located in a controlled environment with access to crafts persons only.
•
This product is intended for installation in network telecommunication facilities (CO, vault,
hut, or other environmentally controlled electronic equipment enclosure).
•
This product is intended to be connected to the common bonding network in a network
telecommunication facility (CO, vault, hut, or other environmentally controlled electronic
equipment enclosure).
•
The DC return connection to this system can remain isolated from system frame and chassis
(DC-I).
•
This system is suitable for installation as part of the Common Bonding Network (CBN).
•
Rectifier, converter, and module mounting assembly ventilating openings must not be
blocked and temperature of air entering rectifiers and converters must not exceed the rated
operating ambient temperature range.
Clearance requirements are:
The distance from the rear of the module mounting assembly to a wall or other solid
structure must not be less than four (4) inches. This will assure proper airflow through
the rectifier and converter modules.
Compliance Information
1.3.1 Safety Compliance: This unit meets the requirements of UL 60950-1, Standard for Information
Technology Equipment, and is UL Recognized as a power supply for use in Telephone,
Electronic Data Processing or Information Processing Equipment. This unit meets the
requirements of CAN/CSA 22.2, No. 60950-00 and is tested and Certified by UL ("c UR") as a
Component Type Power Supply.
1.3.2 NEBS Compliance: Compliance verified by a Nationally Recognized Testing Laboratory
(NRTL) per GR-1089-CORE and GR-63-CORE. Contact Emerson Network Power for NEBS
compliance reports. (Pending for solar converters.)
