e-Learning
e-learning Summer School provides students with the opportunity to earn a new credit in a
variety of subject areas while maintaining some flexibility in their summer schedule. Students
should expect to work a minimum of 5-6 hours per day to complete their studies, and will
need a reliable computer and internet connection for the duration of the course. An online
orientation session will be offered on the first day for students new to e-Learning. Courses with
final exams will require students to arrange a proctor in advance, and will be written on Friday,
July 29th. All e-Learning Summer School students in Upper Grand schools need to be
registered within the OeLC Registration System via their guidance departments.
General Information—Summer School
Examinations: Each new credit course requires the student to write a final exam. Dates of the
exams will be announced on the first day of Summer School.
Final Report Cards will be mailed to the student’s home and the home school in mid-August.
Students may not be registered in more than one Summer School program (ie. Cannot register
for an eLearning and regular Summer School course.
HOW TO REGISTER FOR SUMMER SCHOOL
1. Contact your Guidance Counselor.
2. Registration information may be found on line at our website

3. Registrations must be submitted no later than 4 PM - Wednesday, June 24, 2016.
Fees: A non-refundable student services fee of $10.00 will be collected the first day of class.
ADULT STUDENTS
Students who are 18 years of age or over and have been out of school for more than one year
may register directly with Continuing Education - Dufferin Centre at (519) 941-2661 no later
than 4 PM - Wednesday, June 24, 2016.
Confirmation of registration is not sent out and all students should assume their class is running
and attend on Monday, July 4th. Phone calls will be made only if classes are cancelled due to lack
of enrolment. Transportation is the student’s responsibility.

General Information
Summer School 2016 offers an extensive selection of new credit and credit recovery courses
from Grade 9 to 12. Grade 9 full credit courses are only for students who received below 35%
in these courses in the previous school year. Summer School is not open to students who are
entering Grade 9. Classes begin promptly at 8:30am. Tardiness will not be accepted.
DAILY ATTENDANCE IS MANDATORY IN ALL CREDIT COURSES.
Completion of a full credit requires 110 classroom hours. Poor attendance will result in the
student’s removal from the school register.
CLASSES WILL RUN ONLY IF REGISTRATION MEETS THE
MINIMUM ENROLMENT.
Registration deadline: 4 PM, June 20th, 2016
New Credit Courses - (20 days)
New Credit Courses are intended for students who wish to accelerate towards their diploma
or who have not met the minimum requirement to qualify for a make-up course. Only one
20-day session can be taken.

Credit Recovery Courses - (10 days)
Credit Recovery Courses are intended for students who have received a failing final mark
within the last school year and wish to attempt the course again. To qualify, the student
must have achieved a final mark not less than 35%. A student who has achieved a final
mark less than 35% or wishes to upgrade a passing mark (greater than 50%) must take a
“new credit” course.
