Geography Course Descriptions GEOG 5023: Economic Geography Prerequisite: Permission of the instructor or Department Head. A study of the resources at man's disposal and his economic activities in utilizing these resources. Special attention is given to industrial and agricultural resources of leading nations. Note: May not be taken for credit after completion of GEOG 4023 or equivalent. GEOG 5803: Seminar in Global Studies Prerequisite: Permission of the instructor or Department Head. A directed seminar in a major world region. The region and specific focus will depend upon the current world situation and student needs. Note: May not be taken for credit after completion of GEOG 4803 or equivalent. GEOG 6881,6882,6883: Workshop Prerequisite: Permission of the instructor or Department Head. The workshop will require the equivalency of fifteen clock hours of instruction per credit hour. GEOG 6891,6892,6893,6894: Independent Study Prerequisite: Permission of the instructor or Department Head. Open to graduate students who wish to pursue individual study or investigation of some facet of knowledge which complements the purpose of the University's graduate program. Students will be required to plan their studies and prepare formal written reports of their findings. Note: The selected topic may not constitute any duplication of study leading to the accomplishment of a thesis.
