Mayor De Lille announces Mayoral Committee reshuffle
I am pleased to announce a change in Mayoral Committee positions.
Effective immediately, Councillor Benedicta Van Minnen will become the
Mayoral Committee Member for Human Settlements. Councillor Siyabulela
Mamkeli will become the Mayoral Committee Member for Health.
Councillor Van Minnen has demonstrated a keen understanding of
community needs in the Health portfolio and her move to Human Settlements
will help us drive our mission to create integrated communities adequately
served by social amenities and services. Councillor Mamkeli has also
developed a detailed understanding of the social requirements needed to
foster inclusiveness in his previous portfolio, making him an ideal contender for
the Health Directorate.
Both portfolios are essential components of building an inclusive and caring
city. From time to time, it is healthy for governments to refresh their leadership
structures with small changes in the interests of better executing their
mandate. I am satisfied that this change will better enable us to achieve the
goals contained in our Integrated Development Plan (IDP).
