Statement by the Executive Mayor Patricia de Lille
Mayor De Lille extends sincere condolences after the passing of
Ricardo Groenewald
I am saddened to hear about the passing of one of Cape Town’s great sons
of music, Ricardo Groenewald who shot to fame after his trademark hit ‘I love
you Daddy’.
Ricardo’s music enriched the childhood memories of so many Capetonians
and others across our country. This is indeed a great loss to the many whose
hearts he crept into.
In this time of bereavement I extend my condolences to his family, friends
and the arts community. We carry you in our thoughts and prayers.
We will forever be grateful for the joy he brought to our hearts through his
song.
