Please share any co mments abo ut yo ur decisio n to attend UCCS, the enro llment pro cess here, o r anything else yo u wo uld like to share abo ut yo ur experiences o n campus. T e xt Re spo nse I have been taking UCCS co urses since seventh grade, so I felt co mfo rtable o n the campus. Orientatio n did a great jo b o f making me excited to attend. Otherwise, I feel that there co uld have been better co mmunicatio n between my adviso r and I. I lo ve this scho o l so much! Everyo ne here is so friendly and the classes are engaging. It was smo o th an helpful Yo ur o rientatio n fo r military that have no t attended co llege befo re sho uld no t be with transfer students. It lacks so much info rmatio n! Co st o f fo ur years at UCCS is the co st o f o ne year at CSU Fo rt Co llins. Tuitio n is a lo t cheaper than o ther Universities in the state. It is a very sho rt co mmute fo r me to get to scho o l each day. I lo ve ho w the scho o l invo lves all o f their students. It's great! Even tho ugh UCCS is a large scho o l, pro fesso rs make it easy to feel right at ho me. This is a really great scho o l. I lo ve the rec center! I am so excited fo r their expansio ns! I abso lutely hate this scho o l. Part o f the reaso n I came here was because o f the aweso me view, I tho ught the scho o l wo uld be just as aweso me, so far the peo ple are rude, there is always co nstructio n, the do rms are ho t, the teachers do n't care, and my favo rite class is ROTC. Everyo ne says CSU pueblo is ghetto and a sucky scho o l, I had mo re fun there this summer than I ever had at UCCS. the kids all act like we are a divisio n 1 fo o tball champio ns scho o l, and we do n't even have a fo o tball team. I signed up fo r a club and put do wn my email, they never emailed me back. No o ffense. I lo ve the campus and all the pro fesso rs. It's a great scho o l! I lo ve the peo ple here. Everytime I have a pro blem, my teachers reach o ut to me and try to help me because I have a hard time reaching o ut fo r help. All go o d :) I lo ve ho w all the pro fesso rs are so friendly and willing to wo rk with yo u and meet with yo u when yo u have questio ns. The campus is also very pretty. So far I am very satisfied with UCCS as a who le. At first I had my heart set o n go ing to a big scho o l like CU Bo ulder o r CSU Fo rt Co llins. Due to my families financial state it was my decisio n whether to attend Pikes Peak Co mmunity Co llege o r UCCS. I can no t begin to tell yo u ho w happy I am that I cho o se this amazing scho o l. I have small classes, have met a great gro up o f friends and can get invo lved anywhere. I like that the scho o l takes time to hear what the students want and take into co nsideratio n what we need. I am truly blessed to have such an amazing netwo rk o f pro fessio nals and lo o k fo rward to earning my degree at UCCS! I lo ve the campus and despite ho w clo se it is to ho me still, I have yet to find a reaso n against "why no t UCCS?" If there was a po ssible way to make the pro cess o f o btaining scho larships easier that wo uld be very helpful cause so me peo ple like me applied fo r o ver ten and o nly go t o ne small o ne. Thanks! I lo ved lo o king at this scho o l because it marked my heart. I knew this was go ing to be my ho me away fro m ho me, and I can't say I felt that way abo ut any o ther scho o l. I am really happy cho o se UCCS. It's clo se to ho me and the view o f the mo untains are beautiful. I am so happy that the scho o l do es a lo t fo r us. Fro m the mo ment that I went to Orientatio n, I knew it was the scho o l fo r me. I feel co mpletely at ho me, so mething that I am pro ud to be able to say. Plus, it o nly makes sense that I wo uld find myself o n a campus that has a beautiful view. I must also add that it is almo st fate co nsidering my elementary scho o l masco t was a lio n and then middle scho o l co lo rs were black and go ld, UCCS is the perfect co mbinatio n, I really co uldn't be happier. To reach my dreams o f playing basketball in the pro s, my jo urney is go ing to start here at UCCS. (Didn't play o n the team in high scho o l and UCCS gives a chance fo r walko ns) I find it can be difficult when enro lling in classes to put to gether a manageable schedule. I really like the scho o l, altho ugh I wish mo re peo ple were here o n the weekends. Perhaps we need mo re o ut o f state students The decisio n was easy to go to UCCS. I wanted to stay in the west fo r Go lf Management and when I heard o f ASU clo sing their pro gram. It to o k the co in flip between ASU and UCCS away and allo wed me to make my decisio n. The enro llment was very smo o th, everyo ne who helped me was very nice and kno wledgeable. I lo ve it here. I'm very happy I cho se to co me here In the enro llment pro cess I o ften felt lo st and co nfused abo ut what steps I had to co mplete next. I am in my freshman year, 43 years o ld, never been in co llege o r even high scho o l. I am a single mo m and have my o wn business as a seamstress. Needless to say, the challenges o f go ing to scho o l are huge and I have struggled this semester in keeping aflo at. Ho wever, every single pro fesso r and perso n in po sitio n o f help, has been wo nderful to me. I am very happy with my experience so far and lo o k fo rward to things leveling o ut and getting to meet my go al o f a Bachelo r's in Nursing! The co mmunicatio ns staff is abso lutely amazing, and the pre-co llegiate pro gram run by Ms. B is the mo st impo rtant pro gram I've ever taken part o f. i do n't like ho w students have to do everything by the UCCS website. There needs to be mo re parking. Like mo re parking that's clo se to the campus and learning facilities. Very nice and easy enro llment pro cess. WIFI o n campus is very buggy and do es no t wo rk o ften o r is very slo w. Mo re places to sit befo re classes wo uld be great as well. Cell pho ne receptio n o n campus is also very po o r, especially fo r being a university. The co mmunicatio n and lo gistics during the applicatio n pro cess was very po o r. I did no t get my enro llment decisio n quickly because the scho o l did no t receive paperwo rk I sent and I was no t info rmed that it was missing. I lo ve uccs! Allo w individuals a o ne-time mess up warning rather than a a punishment. If we are given a free pass we will be mo re gracio us o f it and no t try to take advantage o f the scho o l. My o verall experience so far is go o d. The suppo rt, the size o f the classes and ho w clo se to ho me is extremely helpful. I enjo y the rigo r that the Pre-Nursing pro gram is at. My reaso ning to be at UCCS was majo rly the prestige o f the Beth El Nursing Scho o l. Friendly atmo sphere when I came to visit. its so fun Altho ugh UCCS was no t my to p cho ice scho o l, faculty was certainly the friendliest during the applicatio n pro cess. I was o ffered the greatest financial aid fro m UCCS and am glad that I cho se to attend this scho o l. I like the size o f the campus: big eno ugh to enjo y the breathing ro o m o f do ing whatever and being so cial, yet still small eno ugh whereas yo u can fo cus o n yo ur studies and get o ne-o n-o ne help fro m teachers and pro fesso rs. The activities that they thro w o n the first few weeks o f scho o l definitely helped me co mmit to UCCS seeing ho w I co uld co me here to get a higher degree o f educatio n and still manage to have fun o n to p o f that. I kno w fro m perso nal experience, and also the experience o ne o f my peers had, that respo nse fro m UCCS during the enro llment pro cess needs to impro ve. My friend had to call the scho o l to hear that he was no t accepted. The respo nse fro m the scho o l abo ut acceptance needs to be do ne in a mo re timely, efficient manner. All aro und a amazing campus with po sitive peo ple and a great enviro nment fo r studying and fo r fun. When I began my search fo r scho o ls, I had never heard o f UCCS. It didn't help that my family had mo ved to Co lo rado fro m Michigan 3 years prio r and I was the first in my family to attend co llege in this state, so we didn't kno w many befo rehand. Ho wever, UCCS came to my high scho o l's "future center" and I didn't actually attend that meeting (because I hadn't heard o f the scho o l) but o ne o f my friends did and gave me the viewbo o k. Lo o king thro ugh it, I tho ught this co uld be po tentially perfect! UCCS was the perfect middle o f the ro ad o ptio n fo r me; it was less expensive than CSU, smaller than CSU but bigger than Adam's State, and is fairly clo se to ho me. I had heard that UCCS had a really go o d business pro gram to o . So far I am enjo ying my experience with UCCS and think I am getting a quality educatio n. I wo uld be mo re inclined to take part in student activities if parking was no t such an issue. I park at Lo t 15 and use the shuttle, so o nly go to campus fo r classes, and avo id returning fo r anything else It is great to get active with clubs and gro ups. It also helps if yo u get emplo yed o n campus because they wo rk with yo ur schedule. There seems to be a lack o f events o ver the weekend. Mo nday was the basketball event but I think that there sho uld be mo re to do o n weekends fo r the residents here. The pro cess was very easy to apply. Really quick respo nse time. My o nly co mplaint was there is a lack o f signs o n the campus, and there was no info o n the pro cess fo r mo ve in day...which made it really hard o n my parents and 3 cars we had to circle because no o ne wo uld direct us. So far everything has been go o d, ho wever, I believe that the financial aid o ffice and the reco rds o ffice sho uld try and do a better jo b with co mmunicating with the students if any issues beco me present in their applicatio n like it happened to me. Do n't wait until the student co ntacts yo u, co ntact them first if an issue beco mes apparent as so o n as po ssible. At first I didn't want to go to UCCS because I felt like it was to o clo se to ho me and there wo uld be no thing to do o n campus. Once I go t here, ho wever, I was pretty happy with my decisio n. There is plenty to do o n campus and I lo ve co ming to class. Everyo ne I have met so far has been po lite and helpful. I really like UCCS and the peo ple that attend here. Everyo ne is very nice and co mmitted to helping students. UCCS has an excellent business scho o l and the PGA PGM pro gram, which was a deciding facto r in my attendance. The enro llment pro cess was very easy and respo nse to emails and discussio n was fast. I'm very fo rtunate to have applied fo r ho using late and received a ro o m in Timberline- way better than o n-campus ho using. I lo ve it here. The views are incredible, campus is so easy to get aro und. The experience o n campus thus far has been great. Altho ugh UCCS may have no t o riginally been my first cho ice, I am so happy that this is where I ended it. The classes, campus, and to wn o f Co lo rado springs are to p no tch, and i'm really thankful that I have the o ppo rtunity to gro w and learn in such a beautiful enviro nment. Thank yo u fo r creating such a co o l place. UCCS was my seco nd cho ice to The University o f Hawaii at Hilo , but due to a death in the family I decided to attend a scho o l in to wn. I am, fo r the mo st part, enjo ying UCCS. My bro ther attends UCCS and I came to visit, I lo ved the campus and I enjo y it mo re every day. The enro llment pro cess to o k almo st a mo nth and a half fo r me to hear my answer, which was unpleasant. UCCS is kno wn fo r a great nursing pro gram which highly mo tivated me to attend here. I decided to co me to UCCS based upo n my sisters experience here. Witho ut even having a to ur, I applied and was thrilled when I was accepted. I knew I wanted to go away fo r scho o l, and UCCS was a perfect fit. I lo ve o ur campus, and all o f the student activities that are pro vided. There is always so mething to do o n campus, and the classes are still enjo yable, tho ugh quite challenging. Thank yo u UCCS! This scho o l is everything I expected it to be and that is all that needs to be said. Very Po sitive Experience! I'd say that the who le pro cess was relatively easy, except fo r nearly no t being able to attend due to the expenses fro m the ho using. There's also many peo ple o utside at night being lo ud and o bno xio us, which can be anno ying. Lastly, the parking situatio n right no w is a bit inco nvenient, but no t the wo rst. I am enjo ying UCCS and my classes very much. In this survey when it asks if UCCS was yo ur first, seco nd, etc cho ice, there sho uld be an o ptio n fo r it was tied. I didn't really have a first seco nd third cho ice, just a decisio n to make. It has been great except freshman seminar. I lo ve the teachers and the class itself, but am frustrated with all the busy wo rk in Driven, when I can spend mo re time studying fo r the harder, co re classes. UCCS is o ne o f Universities that I visited and attended that made me feel go o d, welco me, and acco mplished. Ho pefully I will make it in 4 years and go o n to farther my educatio n. This scho o l is nice but no very diverse Cho o sing to go to UCCS was o ne o f the easiest decisio ns i have had to make. I was even mo re co nfident in my decisio n by just the few first weeks. When I came to the freshman o rientatio n I fell in lo ve with the campus and the o ppo rtunities to get invo lved. UCCS has been great I was very excited to attend co llege and I believe being given the o ppo rtunity to attend UCCS has made me all the mo re mo tivated to better my life. I tho ught my experience was really go o d. UCCS was really fast in applicatio n pro cess and everyo ne was really po lite in o rder to explain the pro cess and what do cuments I needed to co mplete everything. I am really happy with everyo ne at UCCS, and I want to stay at this scho o l. I lo ve the mo untains, the view, the campus, the peo ple, the culture, the educatio n, and the experience. The student life kinda sucks..there isn't eno ugh peo ple fo r it. No o ne lives o n campus. But keep the small class sizes I lo ve UCCS! The lack o f financial aid was frustrating... middle class family, 3.6 high scho o l GPA and a 29 ACT sco re. I do enjo y living o n campus tho ugh, despite the lo w-quality o f the Breckenridge do rms. The fo o d co uld be much better at the Lo dge So far, UCCS has made co llege a very po sitive and friendly enviro nment. I lo ve the campus just wish it was finished already. Wo uld have liked to get a better scho larship; I graduated with a 4.3 and a 29 ACT sco re and o nly received $50 0 . The co st o f go ing to UCCS is o utrageo us, but I had no o ther cho ice seeing as ho w I had to o btain a B.A. because high scho o l degrees are wo rthless fo r even the mo st minsicule jo b. I had get mo ney fast and rush my way thro ugh o rientatio n and financial aid to register fo r classes/pay fo r tuito n. Even by financial aid deadline, I was bro ke and no w in debt. Ho wever, PPCC denied me. My high scho o l co unselo r to ld me I had very little chance o f getting into UCCS. So I defied bo th and ended up a student o f UCCS. I do no t regret it but even no w, I have a hard time with being o n Pell Grant alo ne. I can barely affo rd my bo o ks. Debt was the last thing I wanted to be in but I had no cho ice. I had to be in scho o l. I had to beco me a mo untain lio n. A leader o f the pack! It was all relatively easy, deadlines are just to o clo se to gether. I lo ve that we aren't required to live o n campus! First semester has been extremely difficult but lo o king fo rward to next semester being easier fo r me. I lo ve the campus and the teachers have all been very nice and helpful. My favo rite part o f campus is the Science Center, I spend a lo t o f my time there and they have helped me pass my Chem 10 30 class. I am sure the o ther centers are pretty go o d, but the science center is defiantly the best! I'm getting use to this who le new enviro nment. So far so go o d. I enjo y the campus setting a lo t. The scho o l is very co o l and I like the recycling. There co uld have been a better to ur o f the campus. I like ho w it is clo se to ho me and a very prestigio us scho o l. I think that UCCS is a very nice scho o l and a co mpletely viable o ptio n to o btain a degree. I want to transfer mainly because I do no t wish to live at ho me during co llege, no t because o f anything specific abo ut the scho o l. i liked the price tag, and the fact that it is amo ng the to p in engineering I lo ve the campus and its size, I just hate ho w everyo ne is unspirited. So me o f the activities are a jo ke because no o ne ever go es to them. I lo ve UCCS. I lo ve the campus and ho w there is so many activities to do here. I lo ve the atmo sphere here! Great campus and lo ts to do aro und here! Pro fesso rs are great and everything is at yo ur fingertips! UCCS is a great place. I cho se UCCS because o f the o utstanding academic reputatio n. I also wanted to stay clo se to ho me, so UCCS was the perfect cho ice. The enro llment pro cess was easy and co nvenient. I was pleased with the fast decisio ns. As fo r my campus experiences, I lo ve the feeling o f being at ho me, which is what UCCS gives me. It is a very welco ming enviro nment that enco urages learning and self-disco very, and that is ho w co llege sho uld be. It was an easy decisio n because I came here fo r a girl and even tho ugh that didn't wo rk o ut I stayed here and it's been a great decisio n o f mine. I did no t like that we were fo rced to go to the games in the gym during the first few days o f scho o l. It was unco mfo rtable and I was co unting do wn the minutes until I co uld make friends o n my o wn. When so meo ne fo rces me to make friends, I do n't make many. I make friends o n my o wn time when I am no t being fo rced. Definitely feel like I made a go o d cho ice! Lo vin UCCS! I had a very difficult time with advising. Because I attended UCCS fo r a year as a co ncurrently-enro lled high scho o l student, I pretty much fell thro ugh the cracks as far as advising went, even after I graduated high scho o l and became a "real" student here. It was extremely frustrating to no t have the suppo rt I needed when I needed it. I might have been in high scho o l, but I was still a freshman with a full lo ad o f classes--and it is o nly no w, when I am technically a so pho mo re (based o n my credits, no t yo ur system) that I am starting to get what I need. I realize that there may no t be as many high scho o lers relative to the regular students, but my entire year o f frustratio n speaks to the need fo r a better suppo rt system fo r o ther students like me. We are trying to do so mething great, and it is hard eno ugh witho ut o ur having to do it alo ne. I enjo y the class sizes I really lo ve it here, the applicatio n pro cess was easy! I Lo ve this scho o l, the pro fesso rs, students, nature o f where the scho o l stands, everything UCCS seemed like a go o d scho o l fo r me because it wasn't to o clo se, o r to o far away fro m ho me. There also were smaller class sizes than mo st majo r universities. I o nly knew a few peo ple go ing here, which was preferable. I needed to stay in state due to tuitio n co sts. I really enjo yed the campus to ur and staff here. All my teachers are very caring. T his table has more than 100 rows. Click here to view all responses St at ist ic To tal Respo nses Value 153
