BASIC 1 (FORMERLY PROVISIONAL) CERTIFICATE (VALID FOR 2 YEARS – NON RENEWABLE)
CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

New PSS Teachers: All incoming teachers will be given Basic I Certification).
•
Current Teachers: All current teachers who are in compliant with the Basic Certification requirements will be given Basic I Certification for two years. However, if Basic II requirements are met and they have been with PSS for two years, they
will be reclassified accordingly.

2. Master or Doctorate Degree either in Education or Specialized field
area.
3. A signed application form.
4. Three recommendations (including performance evaluation based on
cumulative performance over a contract term) from:
a.
Immediate supervisor
b.
Colleague
c.
From a parent or former student describing the candidate’s
proficiency, skills and competency.
5. Proof of current membership of professional education association and
specialized endorsement.
6. Receipt of $35.00 payment.
7. 120 hours of seminars, workshops, or in-service training as
sanctioned by PSS and/or equivalent university/college courses.
8. Plus the following courses/seminars:

b. Instructional Supervision and Evaluation (Clinical Supervision)

Three recommendation (describing the candidates proficiency, skills and competency) including performance evaluation that is based on cumulative performance over a contract term from:

A signed application form in the CNMI under the penalty of perjury.

Receipt of $35.00 payment.
5.
Proof of completion of 60 hours of seminar, workshops or in-service training as sanctioned by PSS and/or equivalent university/college courses.
