• Consultant in the field of remote sensing and forest resources. Recent
duties included for example:
- Data collection and analysis from Stora Enso European forestry units
for Spruce Seminar held on January, 2003 (a part of corporate fiber
strategy
- Data collection and analysis for European Wood Supply Strategy
- Preparing tenders for consultancy services, designing posters and
marketing material for RS exhibitions

270,000 hectares of concession area of the customer was covered
with aerial survey and data was processed into ortho-rectified,
geocoded digital photo mosaics ready to be utilized in GISapplications.

PT. Finnantara Intiga, Sanggau, Indonesia
• Director of Wood Production: Duty to lead the plantation establishment
and tending organization (some 250 subordinates within the firm and 2000
daily workers from the local villages in our operating area) with a target to
establish 7000 hectares of new Acacia plantations in 2002. I had the
overall responsibility of wood production chain from land acquisition /
securing land availability for new plantations until clear felling in the age of
seven years. I was deeply involved in TQM development, Stora Enso
Excellence 2005 self-assessment and ISO 9001 certification processes.
PT. Finnantara Intiga was awarded with ISO 9001 certificate as the first
industrial pulpwood plantation company in Indonesia on October 2nd,
2002. My duty station was in Sanggau, West-Kalimantan. This assignment
was successfully completed in the end of September 2002.

aerial imagery, remote sensing, training, carrying out forest field
inventories, research and development concerning reclamation of mines
and other degraded sites in the tropics.

• Technical Advisor. My main responsibility was to continue existing
research and development activities related to the mine reclamation. Work
consisted of carrying out field measurements; data analysis and reporting
of ongoing mine rehabilitation projects. Remarkable efforts were dedicated
to marketing of ENSO services to the mining industry in Indonesia as well
as identifying new potential customers. Marketing included direct mail
advertising, telephone and fax contacts, personal visits, ENSO product
presentations, site visits and preparing of project proposals. A fruitful
cooperation was commenced with the Ministry of Forestry of Indonesia as
a final target to prepare a new comprehensive manual for coalmine
reclamation in Indonesia. I also participated as an technical assistant to
the project called ‘Promotion of Optimum Utilization of Rubberwood,
Phase I’ and made preparations for the project’s Phase II.

Reforestation and Tropical Forest Management Project, The Ministry of
Forestry of Indonesia in cooperation with The Ministry for Foreign Affairs

• Forest Management Advisor. My duty was to assist Forestry Research
and Development Agency (FORDA) in South Kalimantan, Indonesia. My
work consisted of carrying out, monitoring and supervising trial
management and measurements in Riam Kiwa and Kintap trial areas. I
continued data analysis of the trials that were established during the
earlier phases of the project and prepared research reports in cooperation

with the staff of BTR (Balai Teknologi Reboisasi). The cultivation of rattans
in the logged-over tropical rainforest was under my especial interest. I
identified research needs on issues related to future forestry development
projects in South Kalimantan. I also was in responsibility for project
bookkeeping and accounting.

• Junior Forest Inventory Specialist. My duties included the design of the
checking inventory of Bara district, fieldwork in cooperation with the Nepali
counterparts and preparation of the final report. The report included the
findings on the accuracy of the original inventory, recommendations for its
further development as well as a proposal on the organization of checking
inventories for other districts.

• Data analysis and reporting of Kemijärvi forest district inventory resulting
final thesis work in the university. Analysis of the data collected in the
inventory included modeling, calculation and statistical work. In the final
report local volume equations for pine (Pinus sylvestris), spruce (Picea
abies) and birch (Betula pubescens) were introduced as well as models
that predict wood assortments like sawn timber, pulp timber and waste for
an individual tree. Crucial information was reported about the forest
resources (growing stock and its value, distribution of the tree species and
wood assortments) of Kemijärvi forest district.

• Supervising of field measurements as a team leader in Kemijärvi forest
district inventory. Work included orienteering, identification, locating and
measuring of the selected sample plots in the field as well as felling
sample trees, cutting trees into wood assortments and measuring them.
(Data was utilized in the thesis work.)

PT. Finnantara Intiga. Industrial pulpwood plantation project financed by
Stora Enso Group (Nordic Forest Development Holdings, Singapore). In
the first place as a technical support staff, later on promoted to the
Director of Wood Production. Contract was agreed for a period of 15th
October 2000 and 30th September 2002.

MFMA (ITTO-financed Model Forest Management Area) Project,
