Below are some Tompkins FFA Updates!
Weekly FFA Updates:

is happening with Tompkins FFA. If you would like to receive the weekly FFA updates, please click on the
link so that you may register your name and email address. Even if you are already receiving it, please
complete the form so that we make sure we have your most recent email. The link is

Animal Payment Nights:
According to conversations we have had with students and parents, we are expecting over 40 students to
show animals this year. That is a significant increase from last year and we are excited!!!
Animal Payment Nights are Monday, September 15th OR Tuesday September 16th from 3-7pm at the
Merrell Center. Park and enter near the west entrance of the Merrell Center and find room 142/144 (there
should be signs). Once inside the rooms, come to the Tompkins table and Mrs. Sheffield and Mr. Hill will
verify that you have all of your information correct on your paperwork. You should bring your completed
Animal Payment Form and completed W-9 (Both with the student’s information). Payment can be made
with cash, credit card, or cashier’s check/money order.
FFA / Booster Club Meeting:
Our next FFA / Booster Club meeting will be on Monday, October 6th @ 7pm. Once again, the Booster
Club meeting will be in the Ag rooms and the FFA meeting will be in the LGI.
Thank you to everyone who attended the last meeting. Sorry about the air conditioning issue at the last
meeting, we should not have an issue with that going forward.
Thank you to those parents that volunteered to serves as our parent liaisons on the Katy ISD Livestock
Show Sales, Rodeo, and Parade Committee’s.
Ad Sales:
Ad sales will begin on Monday, September 15th. In order to show an animal at the Katy ISD Livestock
Show, members must sell at least one ad. Please do not wait until the last minute to sell ads. Get out
early and get them done quickly as over 2000 FFA members from the district are also selling ads at the
same time.
Students will be sent home with Ad Sales Information on Monday, September 15th.
Ad Sales are our best and most successful fundraiser each year. Students sell ads to be placed in an ad
book that is then printed and passed out for free. Business, parents, grandparents, and family friends are
potential ad buyers with businesses being the most likely buyers of ads.
If you have any questions, please ask.
Washington County Fair Livestock Judging Contest
Students that are interested in livestock judging, are going to raise an animal, or those that are just
looking for something to do on Saturday, September 20th are invited to attend the Washington County
Livestock Judging Contest with Tompkins FFA. This activity counts as one of the above chapter activities
to be eligible to show in the Katy ISD Livestock Show. Tompkins FFA is paying for the bus but all
members wishing to go should give their Ag Teacher $8 cash before Friday, September 19 th. Permission
slips have been sent home with the students that have asked for them, the form will need to be signed
and returned. Students attending will need to wear long pants, closed toe shoes, and a Tompkins shirt.
They will also need to bring money for lunch ($10).
Leadership Development Teams (LDE’s)
We have started meeting with our LDE teams this week. We have placed a schedule of when those
meetings are in the Ag Shop as well as on Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter. Some teams will have
tryouts, so pay attention to those dates. If you are interested in being on a LDE team, please see an Ag
Teacher.
LDE teams help develop a student’s ability to speak in public, think on their feet, think critically, and helps
to develop self-confidence through a contest environment.
