DEPARTMENT OF MANAGEMENT SERVICES For Reference Only CLASS CODE: 1662 PAY GRADE: 425 CLASS TITLE: AUDIT ADMINISTRATOR - SES ALLOCATION FACTOR(S) This is administrative work in one of the following areas: (1) planning and directing the audit program in (a) the Financial Audit Section, the Operational Audit Section, or the Consultant Contracts Audit Section in the Department of Transportation; (b) the Certification and Reimbursement Section in the Bureau of Mine Reclamation in the Department of Environmental Protection; (c) a field office in the Bureau of Auditing Services in the Department of Education; (d) the audit section of the Bureau of Auditing in the Department of Business and Professional Regulation; or (2) assisting an agency's Inspector General by directing two or more professional staff, one of which must be an auditor, in conducting financial, compliance, operational, and program audits or (3) planning and directing the audit section of food and nutrition programs in the Department of Health. EXAMPLES OF WORK PERFORMED: (Note: The examples of work as listed in this class specification are not necessarily descriptive of any one position in the class. Examples of work performed are not to be used for allocation purposes.) Develops the annual audit plan for a section for inclusion in the audit plan of the agency's Inspector General. Plans, directs, and coordinates the work of a staff conducting financial, compliance, operational, and program audits. Conducts systematic reviews of departmental auditing policies and procedures to determine their adequacy, effectiveness, and compliance with regulations, and recommends needed improvements. Reviews audit reports and special studies prepared by subordinates and approves comprehensive final reports of audits and recommendations. Provides counsel and advice to agency officials and entities audited on matters related to audit reports, special studies, and other related recommendations. Reviews audit reports of state auditors and assists state and federal auditors as required. Participates in planning and directing a continuous program 1662-AUDIT ADMINISTRATOR-SES of records control designed to ensure the reliability, accuracy, and proper retention of departmental records. Reviews and evaluates reports on administrative and programmatic practices and procedures in all areas of an agency. Classifies audit projects as to degree of risk and as to frequency of audit coverage. Schedules projects and staff assignments so as to comply with management's needs, within the scope of the agency's overall audit program. Reviews and approves the purpose, scope, and audit approach of each audit project. Reviews and evaluates working papers, statements, reports, and recommendations of subordinate auditors for adherence to audit program objectives and scope as well as adherence to professional standards. Counsels and guides auditors to see that approved audit objectives are met and that adequate, practical coverage is achieved. Performs related work as required.
