Yellowcard - Jessica Dawn

Once in a lifetime you go to that one concert and you swear up and down you won’t ever forget it. For me that concert was Yellowcard. 1,000 people all together in one room at The Complex jumping and singing the songs made the concert the best alternative rock concert I have been to. One of my favorite things about them is that they have a violinist that plays like his fingers on are fire. The fans were jumping and making mosh pits and Yellowcard was just as active and they were running around just as much as the fans. I even tried to even figure out what meter it was in and manage to find out. Overall Yellowcard was better than good; they were amazing, fantastic, unbelievable, incredible and any other positive word.

The Band Yellowcard meet at Douglas Anderson School of the Arts in

Jacksonville, Florida and in 1997 released their first album. Through 1997 until today they have seven albums and one acoustic album. Their latest album When Your

Though Thinking, Say Yes was released this year on March 22 by Hopeless Records.

Their most popular song from their album is Hang You UP. Among their previous songs were Ocean Avenue, Lights and Sounds, Only One, and Light up the Sky.

Although they are not as popular as other bands those who know of

Yellowcard all love the band. What makes their band so diverse from all the other alternative rock bands is that their music features a violin in every song. The violinist is named Sean Mackin is the best violinist I have ever heard. During a slow song he plays with emotion that matches the song perfectly. But when he plays a fast song he play with vigor and enthusiastic. His fingers move so fast that it sounds impossible to play as fast as he does. But he is so good that he can play it.

One thing I found amazing that the violist runs around with enthusiasms while playing high-speed tune. The whole band was running around playing instruments and singing with high energy like they just drank ten cans of Red Bull.

The led singing actually did flips off of the drum sets multiple times. When we were jumping the band members jumped with us. They would run from one side of the stage to the other bouncing, screaming, and doing anything else they felt like. I wouldn’t have been surprised if they started crowed surfing like a lot of people were already doing.

During some of the songs I even tried to see if the songs were double or triple meter. Some of the songs I found that were double meter were Hang you up and Sing for Me. I never understood how to tell the difference between the two meters but I followed the way that I learned in class and I think I found two songs that were triple meters. The two I found were Hide and Only One. I think that I now understand the difference between the two and I am happy that I now understand.

The best concert that I have ever been to was Yellowcard. The instruments were played with enthusiasm that matched the tone of the song. They ran around with just as much energy as their songs doing flips and bouncing everywhere. I was surprised, as I figured out, that some of the songs they played were triple meter and not all double meter because most rock songs are double. The concert was everything and more than I imagined. Even though my ears rang for two days and my feet hurt at the end, I would go again in a heartbeat. I loved the way I could feel the beat reverberating thought out my whole body. I loved the way I could hear the song perfectly and how everyone sang along with the lead singer. I loved the energy of everyone in the building. It was one of the best nights of my life.
