Class Rules:

1.

Be prompt and prepared:

Prompt – Be in your seat when the bell rings and begin the “Do Now” or activity displayed on the SmartBoard.

Prepared: have your notebook, textbook, pen, pencil, homework or any other

necessary supplies.

2.

Behave respectfully.

Be kind to and considerate of your fellow students and your teacher.

Raise your hand to speak!

Do not engage in distracting side conversations during full class activities.

Ask to use the bathroom at appropriate times.

1 Notebook to be left in class as Journal ("Do Now")

1 Notebook or 3 Ring Binder with paper for note-taking

A Folder or 3 Ring Binder to hold and organize handouts.

Responsibilities:

As a student in this class you have certain responsibilities that are essential in order to succeed.

1. Participation

Participation is an absolute must! Participation means that you speak in class, take an active part in class activities, and do all of your assigned work to the best of your abilities. Participation means that you have shown your teacher that you care about your progress in this class and are willing to be a part of this class, sharing your knowledge, opinions, and being with all of us.

2. Homework

When homework is given it is essential that it be completed, and if there is a written component, that it be turned in on the due date. There may be times it will be collected and graded. Other times, it will be spot-checked.

Final Grade

Your grade in this class will be calculated using weighted assessments, which will count as 85% of your grade, and Participation (including the Cell Phone Policy), which will count for 15% of your grade.

Participation (15%): Half of the 10 daily points of your Participation grade will be awarded based on your fulfillment of the Cell Phone Policy (see attached) . The other half will be based on your level of engagement and participation based on a 5-Point scale. Staying on task, asking questions, sharing opinions and comments, volunteering answers are all great ways to show your participation.

Note: Due to variations in the scope and time requirements among assignments, adjustments in point values may be made at the discretion of the teacher. Students will be notified of such changes.

Late Policy:

*Late homework will receive half credit if handed in by the meeting after the due date .

*Major assessments will be penalized ten percentage points for every day late ( including A

DAYS AND WEEKENDS), and after Five Days will receive a zero (no credit).

*Turn-it-in assignments will receive an additional pass/fail quiz grade for submission by the due date.

*Reading Checks/Pop Quizzes: If a pop quiz is given on a day that you are absent, you will be required to take that quiz immediately upon return. If an additional pop quiz is being given on the day of your return, you will have the option of either taking that quiz as well or not taking that quiz at all.

* Lakeland’s policy states that students with excused absences are given a number of days equivalent to the number of absences to make up their work without penalty. It is the student’s responsibility to see me for the work you missed.

***In all cases, it is the student’s responsibility to notify the teacher of relevant extenuating circumstances.***

Extra Help : Upon request, either after school or during the school day, as schedules permit.
