Born in Grand Prairies Texas, Selena
Marie Gomez is an astonishing singer with
many talents. It all started out when her
mother, Mandy Teefy gave birth to an
amazing entertainer. Selena Gomez is born
on July 22, 1992. Her mother is Italian and
her father is Mexican. She is best known for
Alex Russo from Wizards of Waverly Place.
Her Music
Selena is a pop singer and some of
her top ten hits are: A Year Without Rain,
Who Says, Naturally, Love You Like A Love
Song, Round and Round, Tell me something
I don’t know, Falling Down, Magic, Send It
On and One and the same. Her band name
is Selena and the Scene. Some original pop
song artists include Madonna, Michael
Jackson and Richard Hamilton.
How it Began…
It all started when Selena first auditioned for
‘Barney and friends’. She stared in it as Gianna and
her best childhood friend, Demi Lovato played a
role as well. This is how both best friends started
their friendship. In the episode a brass band was
coming to town. Angela (Demi) played the trumpet
and wanted to be in a marching band. Gianna
(Selena) was a very enthusiastic girl who enjoys
dancing and listening to music.

Selena Gomez did many little roles. She had a minor role
in ‘Spy kids: Game Over’ and ‘Dr.Seuss Horton Hears a
who ’. In Spy kids 3, Selena plays as the owner of the
water park. In Horton Hears a who, she’s the voice of the
mayor’s 96 daughters. Selena also has some lead roles in
a couple of movies. In Another Cinderella Story, Selena
stared as Mary Santiago. Another Cinderella Story is
about the original tale of Cinderella with a twist. Selena
won a young artist award in 2009 for Another Cinderella
Story.
Selena also starred in Princess Protection program in
2009 with her best friend Demi Lovato. The story had
a very interesting climax and story. The summary
starts when a kingdom is under dictatorship. When
Princess Rosalinda (Demi) is told to leave by her
mother, Rosie is brought to the princess protection
program where princesses around the world are
disguised as normal people. Rosie is then taken to
Louisiana with General Joe Mason, a secret agent,
where she has Carter (Joe mason’s daughter) (Selena)
as a roommate. Together, they try to blend Rosalinda
in as an American teenage girl. In 2009 Princess
Protection Program won a Teen Choice award for the
Choice Summer TV Star Female.

Selena Gomez also has a main role in Wizards of
Waverly place. The T.V. show has a base problem
which is: The Russo family isn’t a normal family.
The three siblings, Justin, Max and Alex (Selena)
have magical abilities because they are wizards!
All 3 siblings are competing in a family wizard
competition to see who is going to be the family
wizards and keep their powers forever! Wizards of
Waverly place is a hit TV show, which won many
awards such as the Primetime Emmy Award. The
cast has also been nominated many times.

Selena (alone) received many awards in
2011 such as the Nickelodeon Argentina
Kids' Choice Awards for the most favorite
International singer. She also won an award
for the teen choice award for Female Choice
Hottie. She won Teen Choice Award also, for
the Choice Red Carpet Icon – Female as well
as the Choice Summer TV Star Female.
Her Influences
Selena is influenced by Cheryl Cole. "She's
a big influence on me." Selena told people
at an interview. "I picked up her CD and
they gave me Girls Aloud things and a DVD
of her, and her music got me through my
whole movie (which was being filmed).”
