Your objective is to persuade your visitors at Taste of America to one day visit your assigned state. This brochure will be displayed on your table at Taste of America. You will have time in your social studies class to research and find the information required for the brochure. You will be working on the persuasive paragraph in your literacy class. You will be responsible for printing out your colored pictures for the brochure, and assembling/decorating it at home. Literacy teachers will specify where each requirement will go on the brochure. REQUIREMENTS: The brochure must be created on a manila file folder (provided by literacy teacher) and meet rubric requirements. (see rubric) Students must also include 5-8 photos (colored print-outs) to support your information. Students are welcome to decorate with stickers, etc. to enhance their brochure. Information to be included is: Cover (front of folder): state name; nickname; original state slogan/motto; photo of state flag; MLA student heading in bottom left hand side of cover State Information: capital; major cities; bordering states Landforms/Landmarks: landmarks (man-made: Hoover Dam, Erie Canal, etc.); landforms (Grand Canyon, Carlsbad Caverns, etc.); bodies of water (Great Lake, rivers, oceans, etc.); topography (Rocky Mountains, plains, Everglades) Climate/Overall Weather Conditions: best time to visit state; average temperature for each season (winter, spring, summer, and fall); name of region (tropical, desert, plains, tundra, etc.); annual precipitation (rainfall/snowfall); severe weather zone?
