Proposal to Create a Study Guide Manual for Pharmacy Technician Class at
Mansfield Frontier High School

Summary:
We need a study guide manual for the new Pharmacy Technician test. I recently, got my
Pharmacy Technician license last year and noticed that some part of the test I did not
learn. Due to a new rewritten Pharmacy Technician test for 2013. The original study
guide for the test did not cover all the key points that would be on the new Pharmacy
Technician test.
So, I was considering adding new information and tips for the new test with this manual
I’m providing, which be finished by May 7, 2014. The estimated total cost for this
manual will be $58.74. My knowledge and experiences makes me capable creating the
manual.


Passing rate has dramatically decreased from 2012-2013. From 86% to 64.3%
passing rate. It could be from the lack of knowledge of the new rewritten test for
the pharmacy technician. It can be analyze from
http://www.pharmacy.ca.gov/about/pass_rates.shtml.
I have created a manual design to prepare students for the new rewritten test.
Covering the necessary information that the students lack from school or books,
and then incorporating them into the manual.
Current Problems with the new Pharmacy Technician Test:
The Pharmacy Technician Class at Mansfield Frontier High School uses the outdated
study guide manual. For following and learning the ways to take the Pharmacy
Technician test. In November 1st, 2013, there was a new updated version of the Pharmacy
Technician test that takes effect.

Students’ problem with the new style test:
 Unprepared with some of these topics
 Study for a different test
 Attack the question differently
 Use knowledge from the old study guide manual
With these changes, data has shown that students passing rate decrease by 21.7% from
2012-2013. The need for a study guide preparing students for 2014 Pharmacy Technician
test is extremely important.
Proposed Solution: A study guide manual for pharmacy technician test
The proposed study guide manual for Pharmacy Technician test will provide students
with the understanding and knowledge to
 Target what’s going to be on the test
 Identify how much you need to learn on each topic area
 Have a higher chance to pass the test
I will write the study guide manual for Pharmacy Technician test from my experiences
and will consult with the administrative Pharmacy Technician class for more information.

I can complete the study guide manual for Pharmacy Technician test end of the month.
During the week of May 1, the student volunteers and Pharmacy Technician will use the
rough draft and give me their comments about the manual. I will submit the draft on May
5, 2014. If the draft is satisfactory, you will receive the completed manual on May 7,
2014.
My Qualification for creating this manual:
My knowledge and experiences would lend well to this position because I know how the
test would be like. I was able to pass the test on my first try, even though I had no
knowledge about the new information added on the test. Also, I have worked and
interned at a pharmacy and hospital. Giving me a real world scenario, and which I will
incorporate into the manual.




High School. This manual will resolve our dwindling pass rate for the new Pharmacy
