○ In a group you will create a radio show from the 1920s/1930s about the 1920s, Great
Depression, and New Deal.
○ Each radio report must be no shorter than 5 minutes and no longer than 10 minutes. You
will write a script, practice, digitally record your radio reports, edit them, and broadcast
them.

Format: 30 multiple-choice and one long answer question. Timed.

○ Write an essay on one of the following three prompts:
○ In 1929 a newspaper editor wrote that the 1920s were the most “golden and
galvanic” decade yet. Based on your knowledge of period, and using evidence from
primary and secondary sources, defend or oppose this claim. Address
counterarguments.
○ Many people, events, and policies contributed to the onset of the Great Depression.
Determine what or who should receive the most blame for causing this horrible
period of time in American history. Justify your opinion with evidence from
primary and secondary sources. Address counterarguments.
○ Many events of the past can be analyzed to help avoid problems in the present.
Analyze the causes of the Great Depression and the strengths and weaknesses of
the New Deal. Present and defend three pieces of advice you would give a future
president about how to prevent and/or recover from an economic depression. Use
primary and secondary sources as evidence. Address counterarguments.
○ Essays will be graded on a scoring guide. They must be typed in Times New Roman 12
point font with 1-inch margins, double-spaced.

○ You will receive extra credit if you watch any of the following movies and write a
summary of the plot, submitted with the final Portfolio. Your options include:
