Verses Good for the Soul
21 – The Second Coming of Jesus Christ
1 – Be Watchful and Prepared for Jesus’ Return
No one knows about that day or hour, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father.
As it was in the days of Noah, so it will be at the coming of the Son of Man. For in the days before the
flood, people were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, up to the day Noah entered
the ark; and they knew nothing about what would happen until the flood came and took them all away.
That is how it will be at the coming of the Son of Man. Two men will be in the field; one will be taken
and the other left. Two women will be grinding with a hand mill; one will be taken and the other left.
Therefore keep watch, because you do not know on what day your Lord will come. But understand
this: If the owner of the house had known at what time of night the thief was coming, he would have
kept watch and would not have let his house be broken into. So you also must be ready, because the
Son of Man will come at an hour when you do not expect Him. (Matthew 24:36-44)
At that time the kingdom of heaven will be like ten virgins who took their lamps and went out to meet
the bridegroom. Five of them were foolish and five were wise. The foolish ones took their lamps but
did not take any oil with them. The wise, however, took oil in jars along with their lamps. The
bridegroom was a long time in coming, and they all became drowsy and fell asleep. At midnight the
cry rang out: “Here’s the bridegroom! Come out to meet him!” Then all the virgins woke up and
trimmed their lamps. The foolish ones said to the wise, “Give us some of your oil; our lamps are going
out.” “No,” the replied, “there may not be enough for both us and you. Instead, go to those who sell oil
and buy some for yourselves.” But while they were on their way to buy the oil, the bridegroom arrived.
The virgins who were ready went in with him to the wedding banquet. And the door was shut. Later
the others also came. “Sir! Sir!” they said. “Open the door for us!” but he replied, “I tell you the truth, I
don’t know you.” Therefore keep watch, because you do not know the day or the hour.
(Matthew 25:1-13)
Again, it will be like a man going on a journey, who called his servants and entrusted his property to
them. To one he gave five talents of money, to another two talents, and to another one talent, each
according to his ability. Then he went on his journey. The man who had received the five talents went
at once and put his money to work and gained five more. So also, the one with the two talents gained
two more. But the man who had received the one talent went off, dug a hole in the ground and hid his
master’s money. After a long time the master of those servants returned and settled accounts with
them. The man who had received the five talents brought the other five. “Master,” he said, “you
entrusted me with five talents. See, I have gained five more.” His master replied, “Well done, good
and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things.
Come and share your master’s happiness!” The man with the two talents also came, “Master,” he
said, “you entrusted me with two talents; see, I have gained two more.” His master replied, “Well done,
good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many
things. Come and share your master’s happiness!” Then the man who had received the one talent
came. “Master,” he said, “I knew that you are a hard man, harvesting where you have not sown and
gathering where you have not scattered seed. So I was afraid and went out and hid your talent in the

ground. See, here is what belongs to you.” His master replied, “You wicked, lazy servant! So you
knew that I harvest where I have not sown and gather where I have not scattered seed? Well then,
you should have put my money on deposit with the bankers, so that when I returned I would have
received it back with interest. Take the talent from him and give it to the one who has the ten talents.
For everyone who has will be given more, and he will have an abundance. Whoever does not have,
even what he has will be taken from him. And throw that worthless servant outside, into the darkness,
where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth. (Matthew 25:14-30)
No one knows about that day or hour, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father.
Be on guard! Be alert! You do not know when that time will come. It’s like a man going away: He
leaves his house and puts his servants in charge, each with his assigned task, and tells the one at the
door to keep watch. Therefore keep watch because you do not know when the owner of the house
will come back – whether in the evening, or at midnight, or when the rooster crows, or at dawn. If he
comes suddenly, do not let him find you sleeping. What I say to you, I say to everyone: “Watch!”
(Mark 13:32-37)
Be dressed ready for service and keep your lamps burning, like men waiting for their master to return
from a wedding banquet, so that when he comes and knocks they can immediately open the door for
him. It will be good for whose servants whose master finds them watching when he comes. I tell you
the truth, he will dress himself to serve, will have them recline at the table and will come and wait on
them. It will be good for those servants whose master finds them ready, even if he comes in the
second or third watch of the night. But understand this: If the owner of the house had known at what
hour the thief was coming, he would not have let his house be broken into. You also must be ready,
because the Son of Man will come at an hour when you do not expect him. (Luke 12:35-40)
Be watchful, or your hearts will be weighed down with dissipation, drunkenness and the anxieties of
life, and that day will close on you unexpectedly like a trap. For it will come upon all those who live on
the face of the whole earth. Be always on the watch, and pray that you may be able to escape all that
is about to happen, and that you may be able to stand before the Son of Man. (Luke 21:34-36)
And do this, understanding the present time. The hour has come for you to wake up from your
slumber, because our salvation is nearer now than when we first believed. The night is nearly over;
the day is almost here. So let us put aside the deeds of darkness and put on the armor of light.
(Romans 13:11-12)
Therefore you do not lack any spiritual gift as you eagerly wait for our Lord Jesus Christ to be
revealed. He will keep you strong to the end, so that you will be blameless on the day of our Lord
Jesus Christ. (1Corinthians 1:7-8)
And this is my prayer: that your love may abound more and more in knowledge and depth of insight,
so that you may be able to discern what is best and may be pure and blameless until the day of Christ,
filled with the fruit of righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ – to the glory and praise of God.
(Philippians 1:9-11)

So that you may become blameless and pure, children of God without fault in a crooked and
depraved generation, in which you shine like stars in the universe as you hold out the word of life – in
order that I may boast on the day of Christ that I did not run or labor for nothing. (Philippians 2:15-16)
But our citizenship is in heaven. And we eagerly await a Savior from there, the Lord Jesus Christ,
who, by the power that enables Him to bring everything under His control, will transform our lowly
bodies so that they will be like His glorious body. (Philippians 3:20-21)
Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful. (Colossians 4:2)
They tell how you turned to God from idols to serve the living and true God, ant to wait for His Son
from heaven, whom He raised from the dead – Jesus, who rescues us from the coming wrath.
(1Thessalonians 1:9-10)
For you know that we dealt with each of you as a father deals with his own children, encouraging,
comforting and urging you to live lives worthy of God, who calls you into His kingdom and glory.
(1Thessalonians 2:11-12)
For what is our hope, our joy, or the crown in which we will glory in the presence of our Lord Jesus
when He comes? Is it not you? Indeed, you are our glory and joy. (1Thessalonians 2:19-20)
May the Lord make your love increase and overflow for each other and for everyone else, just as ours
does for you. May He strengthen your hearts so that you will be blameless and holy in the presence
of our God and Father when our Lord Jesus comes with all His holy ones. (1Thessalonians 3:12-13)
Now, brothers, about times and dates we do not need to write to you, for you know very well that the
day of the Lord will come like a thief in the night. While people are saying, “Peace and safety,”
destruction will come on them suddenly, as labor pains on a pregnant woman, and they will not
escape. But you, brothers, are not in darkness so that this day should surprise you like a thief. You
are all sons of the light and sons of the day. We do not belong to the night or to the darkness. So then,
let us not be like others, who are asleep, but let us be alert and self-controlled. For those who sleep,
sleep at night, and those who get drunk, get drunk at night. But since we belong to the day, let us be
self-controlled, putting on faith and love as breastplate, and the hope of salvation as a helmet. For
God did not appoint us to suffer wrath but to receive salvation though our Lord Jesus Christ. He died
for us so that, whether we are awake or asleep, we may live together with Him. Therefore encourage
one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing. (1Thessaloinans 5:1-11)
May God Himself, the God of peace, sanctify you through and through. May your whole spirit, soul
and body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. The one who calls you is faithful
and He will do it. (1Thessalonians 5:23-24)
But you, man of God, flee from all this, and pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, endurance
and gentleness. Fight the good fight of the faith. Take hold of the eternal life to which you were called

when you made your good confession in the present of many witnesses. In the sight of God, who
gives life to everything, and of Christ Jesus, who while testifying before Pontius Pilate made the good
confession, I charge you to keep this command without spot or blame until the appearing of our Lord
Jesus Christ, which God will bring about in His own time. (1Timothy 6:11-15)
Command them to do good, to be rich in good deeds, and to be generous and willing to share. In this
way they will lay up treasure for themselves as a firm foundation for the coming age, so that they may
take hold of the life that is truly life. (1Timothy 6:18-19)
For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men. It teaches us to say “No” to
ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright and godly lives in this present
age, while we wait for the blessed hope – the glorious appearing of our great God and Savior, Jesus
Christ, who gave Himself for us to redeem us from all wickedness and to purify for Himself a people
that are His very own, eager to do what is good. (Titus 2:11-14)
Let us draw near to God with a sincere heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled to
cleanse us from a guilty conscience and having our bodies washed with pure water. Let us hold
unswervingly to the hope we profess, for He who promised is faithful. And let us consider how we
may spur one another on toward love and good deeds. Let us not give up meeting together, as some
are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another – and all the more as you see the Day
approaching. (Hebrews 10:22-25)
You sympathized with those in prison and joyfully accepted the confiscation of your property, because
you know that you yourselves had better and lasting possessions. So do not throw away your
confidence; it will be richly rewarded. You need to persevere so that when you have done the will of
God, you will receive what He has promised. For in just a very little while, “He who is coming will
come and will not delay.” (Hebrews 10:34-37)
Obey your leaders and submit to their authority. They keep watch over you as men who must give an
account. Obey them so that their work will be a joy, not a burden, for that would be of no advantage to
you. (Hebrews 13:17)
Be patient, then, brothers, until the Lord’s coming. See how the farmer waits for the land to yield its
valuable crop and how patient he is for the autumn and spring rains. You, too, be patient and stand
firm, because the Lord’s coming is near. (James 5:7-8)
Therefore, prepare your minds for action; be self-controlled; set your hope fully on the grace to be
given you when Jesus Christ is revealed. (1Peter 1:13)
The end of al thing is near. Therefore be clear minded and self-controlled so that you can pray.
(1Peter 4:7)

But the day of the Lord will come like a thief. The heavens will disappear with a roar; the elements will
be destroyed by fire, and the earth and everything in it will be laid bare. Since everything will be
destroyed in this way, what kind of people ought you to be? You ought to live holy and godly lives as
you look forward to the day of God and speed its coming. That day will bring about the destruction of
the heavens by fire, and the elements will melt in the heat. But in keeping with His promise we are
looking forward to a new heaven and a new earth, the home of righteousness. So then, dear friends,
since you are looking forward to this, make every effort to be found spotless, blameless and at peace
with Him. (2 Peter 3:10-14)
And now, dear children, continue in Him, so that when He appears we may be confident and
unashamed before Him at His coming. (1John 2:28)
Dear friends, now we are children of God, and what we will be has not yet been made known. But we
know that when He appears, we shall be like Him, for we shall see Him as He is. Everyone who has
this hope in Him purifies himself, just as He is pure. (1John 3:2-3)
And so we know and rely on the love God has for us. God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God,
and God in him. In this way, love is made complete among us so that we will have confidence on the
day of judgment, because in this world we are like Him. (1John 4:16-17)
But you, dear friends, build yourselves up in your most holy faith and pray in the Holy Spirit. Keep
yourselves in God’s love as you wait for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ to bring you to eternal life.
(Jude 1:20-21)
Blessed is the one who reads the words of this prophecy, and blessed are those who hear it and take
to heart what is written in it, because the time in near. (Revelation 1:3)
Since you have kept my command to endure patiently, I will also keep you from the hour of trial that is
going to come upon the whole world to test those who live on the earth. I am coming soon. Hold on to
what you have, so that no one will take your crown. (Revelation 3:10-11)
2 – Signs of the End of the Age
Jesus left the temple and was walking away when His disciples came up to Him to call His attention
to its buildings. “Do you see all these things?” He asked. “I tell you the truth, not one stone here will
be left on another; every one will be thrown down.” As Jesus was sitting on the Mount of Olive, the
disciples came to Him privately. “Tell us,” they said, “When will this happen, and what will be the sign
of your coming and of the end of the age?” Jesus answered: “Watch out that no one deceives you.
For many will come in my name, claiming, ‘I am the Christ,’ and will deceive many. You will hear of
wars and rumors of wars, but see to it that you are not alarmed. Such things must happen, but the
end is still to come. Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be
famines and earthquakes in various places. All these are the beginning of birth pains. Then you will
be handed over to be persecuted and put to death, and you will be hated by all nations because of

me. At that time many will turn away from the faith and will betray and hate each other, and many
false prophets will appear and deceive many people. Because of the increase of wickedness, the love
of most will grow cold, but he who stands firm to the end will be saved. And this gospel of the
kingdom will be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come.”
(Matthew 24:1-14)
So when you see standing in the holy place “the abomination that causes desolation,” spoken of
through the prophet Daniel – let the reader understand - then let those who are in Judea flee to the
mountains. Let no one on the roof of his house go down to take anything out of the house. Let no one
in the field go back to get his cloak. How dreadful it will be in those days for pregnant women and
nursing mothers! Pray that your flight will not take place in winter or on the Sabbath. For then there
will be great distress, unequaled from the beginning of the world until now – and never to be equaled
again. If those days had not been cut short, no one would survive, but for the sake of the elect those
days will be shortened. At that time if anyone says to you, “Look, here is the Christ!” or, “There He is!”
do not believe it. For false Christs and false prophets will appear and perform great signs and
miracles to deceive even the elect – if that were possible. See, I have told you ahead of time. So if
anyone tells you, “There He is, out in the desert,” do not go out; or, “Here He is, in the inner rooms,”
do not believe it. For as lightning that comes from the east is visible even in the west, so will be the
coming of the Son of Man. Wherever there is a carcass, there the vultures will gather.
(Matthew 24:15-28)
Now learn this lesson from the fig tree: As soon as its twigs get tender and its leaves come out, you
know that summer is near. Even so, then you see all these things, you know that it is near, right at the
door. I tell you the truth, this generation will certainly not pass away until all these things have
happened. (Matthew 24:32-34)
Watch out that you are not deceived. For many will come in my name, claiming, “I am He,” and, “The
time is near.” Do not follow them. When you hear of wars and revolutions, do not be frightened.
These things must happen first, but the end will not come right away…Nation will rise against nation,
and kingdom against kingdom. There will be great earthquakes, famines and pestilences in various
places, and fearful events and great sings from heaven. (Luke 21:8-11)
There will be signs in the sun, moon and stars. On the earth, nations will be in anguish and perplexity
at the roaring and tossing of the sea. Men will faint from terror, apprehensive of what is coming on the
world, for the heavenly bodies will be shaken. At that time they will see the Son of Man coming in a
cloud with power and great glory. (Luke 21:25-27)
The time is short. From now on those who have wives should live as if they had none; those who
mourn, as if they did not; those who are happy, as if they were not; those who buy something, as if it
were not theirs to keep; those who use the things of the world, as if not engrossed in them. For this
world in its present form is passing away. (1Corinthians 7:29-31)

Concerning the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and our being gathered to Him, we ask you, brothers,
not to become easily unsettled or alarmed by some prophecy, report or letter supposed to have come
from us, saying that the day of the Lord has already come. Don’t let anyone deceive you in any way,
for that day will not come until the rebellion occurs and the man of lawlessness is reveled, the man
doomed to destruction. He will oppose and will exalt himself over everything that is called God or is
worshiped, so that he sets himself up in God’s temple, proclaiming himself to be God.
(2 Thessalonians 2:1-4)
The Spirit clearly says that in later times some will abandon the faith and follow deceiving spirits and
things taught by demons. Such teachings come through hypocritical liars, whose consciences have
been seared as with a hot iron. (1Timothy 4:1-2)
But mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days. People will be lovers of themselves, lovers
of money, boatsful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, without love,
unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good, treacherous, rash,
conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God – having a form of godliness but denying its
power. (2 Timothy 3:1-5)
For the time will come when men will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires,
they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear.
They will turn their ears away from the truth and turn aside to myths. (2 Timothy 4:3-4)
First of all, you must understand that in the last days scoffers will come, scoffing and following their
own evil desires. The will say, “Where is this ‘coming’ He promised? Ever since our fathers died,
everything goes on as it has since the beginning of creation.” But they deliberately forget that long
ago by God’s word the heavens existed and the earth was formed out of water and by water. By
these waters also the world of that time was deluged and destroyed. By the same word the present
heavens and earth are reserved for fire, being kept for the day of judgment and destruction of ungodly
men. (2 Peter 3:3-7)
Dear children, this is the last hour; and as you have heard that the antichrist is coming, even now
many antichrists have come. This is how we know it is the last hour. They went out from us, but they
did not really belong to us. For if they had belonged to us, they would have remained with us; but their
going showed that none of them belonged to us. (1John 2:18-19)
In the last times there will be scoffers who will follow their own ungodly desires. These are the men
who divide you, who follow mere natural instincts and do not have the Spirit. (Jude 1:18-19)
3 – The Second Coming of Jesus Christ
The Son of Man is going to come in His Father’s glory with His angels, and then He will reward each
person according to what he has done. I tell you the truth, some who are standing here will not taste
death before they see the Son of Man coming in His kingdom. (Matthew 16:27-28)

For as lightning that comes from the east is visible even in the west, so will be the coming of the Son
of Man. (Matthew 24:27)
Immediately after the distress of those days “the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its
light; the stars will fall from the sky, and the heavenly bodies will be shaken.” At that time the sign of
the Son of Man will appear in the sky, and all the nations of the earth will mourn. They will see the
Son of Man coming on the clouds of the sky, with power and great glory. And He will send His angels
with a loud trumpet call, and they will gather His elect from the four winds, from one end of the
heavens to the other. (Matthew 24:29-31)
(Matthew 24:36-41)
“Yes, It is as you say,” Jesus replied. “But I say to all of you: In the future you will see the Son of Man
sitting at the right hand of the Mighty One and coming on the clouds of heaven.” (Matthew 26:64)
If anyone is ashamed of me and my words in this adulterous and sinful generation, the Son of Man
will be ashamed of him when He comes in His Father’s glory with the holy angels. (Mark 8:38)
The Son of Man in His day will be like the lighting, which flashes and lights up the sky from one end to
the other. But first He must suffer many things and be rejected by this generation. (Luke 17:24-25)
At that time they will see the Son of Man coming in a cloud with power and great glory. When these
things begin to take place, stand up and lift up your heads, because your redemption is drawing near.
(Luke 21:27-28)
I tell you the truth, you shall see heaven open, and the angels of God ascending and descending on
the Son of Man. (John 1:51)
Do not let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God; trust also in me. In my Father’s house are many
rooms; if it were not so, I would have told you. I am going there to prepare a place for you. And if I go
and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where
I am. You know the way to the place where I am going. (John 14:1-4)
I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you. Before long, the world will not see me anymore, but
you will see me. Because I live, you also will live. On that day you will realize that I am in my Father,
and you are in me, and I am in you. (John 14:18-20)

You heard me say, “I am going away and I am coming back to you.” If you loved me, you would be
glad that I am going to the Father, for the Father is greater than I. I have told you now before it
happens, so that when it does happen you will believe. (John 14:28-29)
They were looking intently up into the sky as He was going, when suddenly two men dressed in white
stood beside them. “Men of Galilee,” they said, “Why do you stand here looking into the sky? This
same Jesus, who has been taken from you into heaven, will come back in the same way you have
seen Him go into heaven.” (Acts 1:10-11)
Repent, then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out, that times of refreshing may come
from the Lord, and that He may send the Christ, who has been appointed for you – even Jesus. He
must remain in heaven until the time comes for God to restore everything, as He promised long ago
through His holy prophets. (Acts 3:19-21)
Therefore judge nothing before the appointed time; wait till the Lord comes. He will bring to light what
is hidden in darkness and will expose the motives of men’s hearts. (1Corinthians 4:5)
For we know in part and we prophesy in part, but when perfection comes, the imperfect
disappears…now we see but a poor reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I
know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known. (1Corinthians 13:9-12)
For as in Adam all die, so in Christ all will be made alive. But each in his own turn: Christ, the
firstfruits; then, when He comes, those who belong to Him. Then the end will come, when He hands
over the kingdom to God the Father after He has destroyed all dominion, authority and power. For He
must reign until He has put all His enemies under His feet. The last enemy to be destroyed is death.
(1Corinthians 15:22-26)
Listen, I tell you a mystery: We will not all sleep, but we will all be changed – in a flash, in the
twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, the dead will be raised
imperishable, and we will be changed. For the perishable must clothe itself with the imperishable, and
the mortal with immortality. When the perishable has been clothed with the imperishable, and the
mortal with immortality, then the saying that is written will come true: “Death has been swallowed up
in victory.” (1Corinthians 15:51-54)
But our citizenship is in heaven. And we eagerly await a Savior from there, the Lord Jesus Christ,
who, by the power that enables Him to bring everything under His control, will transform our lowly
bodied so that they will be like His glorious body. (Philippians 3:20-21)
When Christ, who is your life, appears, then you also will appear with Him in glory. (Colossians 3:4)
May He strengthen your hearts so that you will be blameless and holy in the presence of our God and
Father when our Lord Jesus comes with all His holy ones. (1Thessalonians 3:13)

For the Lord Himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the
archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. After that, we who are
still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air.
And so we will be with the Lord forever. (1Thessolonians 4:16-17)
You know very well that the day of the Lord will come like a thief in the night. While people are saying,
“Peace and safety,” destruction will come on them suddenly, as labor pains on a pregnant woman,
and they will not escape. (1Thessalonians 5:2-3)
This will happen when the Lord Jesus is revealed from heaven in blazing fire with His powerful
angels…on the day He comes to be glorified in His holy people and to be marveled at among all
those who have believed. (2 Thessalonians 1:7-10)
And then the lawless one will be revealed, whom the Lord Jesus will overthrow with the breath of His
mouth and destroy by the splendor of His coming. (2 Thessalonians 2:8)
I charge you to keep this command without spot or blame until the appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ,
which God will bring about in His own time – God, the blessed and only Ruler, the King of kings and
Lord of lords, who alone is immortal and who lives in unapproachable light, whom no one has seen or
can see. (1Timothy 6:13-16)
Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will
award to me on that day – and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for His appearing.
(2 Timothy 4:8)
Christ was sacrificed once to take away the sins of many people; and He will appear a second time,
not to bear sin, but to bring salvation to those who are waiting for Him. (Hebrews 9:28)
These have come so that your faith – of greater worth than gold, which perishes even though refined
by fire – may be proved genuine and may result in praise, glory and honor when Jesus Christ is
revealed. (1Peter 1:7)
And when the Chief Shepherd appears, you will receive the crown of glory that will never fade away.
(1Peter 5:4)
But the day of the Lord will come like a thief. The heavens will disappear with a roar; the elements will
be destroyed by fire, and the earth and everything in it will be laid bare. Since everything will be
destroyed in this way, what kind of people ought you to be? You ought to live holy and godly lives as
you look forward to the day of God and speed its coming. That day will bring about the destruction of
the heavens by fire, and the elements will melt in the heat. (2 Peter 3:10-12)

Verses Good for the Soul
Dear friends, now we are children of God, and what we will be has not yet been made known. But we
know that when He appears, we shall be like Him, for we shall see Him as He is. Everyone who has
this hope in Him purifies himself, just as He is pure. (1John 3:2-3)
Look, He is coming with the clouds, and every eye will see Him, even those who pierced Him; and all
the peoples of the earth will mourn because of Him. (Revelation 1:7)
Behold, I am coming soon! Blessed is he who keeps the words of the prophecy in this book…Behold,
I am coming soon! My reward is with me, and I will give to everyone according to what he has done. I
am the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End…He who testifies to
these things says, “Yes, I am coming soon.” Amen. Come, Lord Jesus. (Revelation 22:7-20)
4 – The End of the Age, the Day of Judgment and the Hell
Are not my few days almost over? Turn away from me so I can have a moment’s joy before I go to
the place of no return, to the land of gloom and deep shadow, to the land of deepest night, of deep
shadow and disorder, where even the light is like darkness. (Job 10:20-22)
The wicked will not stand in the judgment. (Psalms 1:5)
The LORD reigns forever; He has established His throne for the judgment. He will judge the world in
righteousness; He will govern the people with justice. (Psalms 9:7-8)
The Mighty One, God, the LORD, speaks and summons the earth from the rising of the sun to the
place where it sets. From Zion, perfect in beauty, God shines forth. Our God comes and will not be
silent; a fire devours before Him, and around Him a tempest rages. He summons the heavens above,
and the earth, that He may judge His people: “Gather to me my consecrated ones, who made a
covenant with me by sacrifice.” And the heavens proclaim His righteousness, for God Himself is judge.
(Psalms 50:1-6)
You say, “I choose the appointed time; it is I who judge uprightly.” (Psalms 75:2)
You alone are to be feared. Who can stand before you when you are angry? From heaven you
pronounced judgment, and the land feared and was quiet – when you, O God, rose up to judge, to
save all the afflicted of the land. (Psalms 76:7-9)
You will not fear the terror of night, nor the arrow that flies by day, nor the pestilence that stalks in the
darkness, nor the plague that destroys at midday. A thousand may fall at your side, ten thousand at
your right hand, but it will not come near you. You will only observe with your eyes and see the
punishment of the wicked. (Psalms 91:5-8)
They will sing before the LORD, for He comes, He comes to judge the earth. He will judge the world
in righteousness and the peoples in His truth. (Psalms 96:13)

And I saw something else under the sun: in the place of judgment – wickedness was there, in the
place of justice – wickedness was there. I thought in my heart, “God will bring to judgment both the
righteous and the wicked, for there will be a time for every activity, a time for every deed.”
(Ecclesiastes 3:16-17)
God will bring every deed into judgment, including every hidden thing, whether it is good or evil.
(Ecclesiastes 12:14)
Men will flee to caves in the rocks and to holes in the ground from dread of the LORD and the
splendor of His majesty, when He rises to shake the earth. In that day men will throw away to the
rodents and bats their idols of silver and idols of gold, which they made to worship. They will flee to
caverns in the rocks and to the overhanging crags from dread of the LORD and the splendor of His
majesty, when He rises to shake the earth. (Isaiah 2:19-21)
Therefore the grave enlarges its appetite and opens its mouth without limit; into it will descent their
nobles and masses with all their brawlers and reveler. (Isaiah 5:14)
Wail, for the day of the LORD is near; it will come like destruction from the Almighty. Because of this,
all hands will go limp, every man’s heart will melt. Terror will seize them, pain and anguish will grip
them; they will writhe like a woman in labor. They will look aghast at each other, their faces aflame.
See, the day of the LORD is coming – a cruel day, with wrath and fierce anger – to make the land
desolate and destroy the sinners within it. The stars of heaven and their constellations will not show
their light. The rising sun will be darkened and the moon will not give its light. I will punish the world
for its evil, the wicked for their sins. I will put an end to the arrogance of the haughty and will humble
the pride of the ruthless. I will make man scarcer than pure gold, more rare than the gold of Ophir.
Therefore I will make the heavens tremble; and the earth will shake from its place at the wrath of the
LORD Almighty, in the day of His burning anger. (Isaiah 13:6-13)
The grave below is all astir to meet you at your coming; it rouses the spirits of the departed to greet
you – all those who were leaders in the world; it makes them rise from their thrones – all those who
were kings over the nations. They will all respond, they will say to you, “You also have become weak,
as we are; you have become like us.” All your pomp has been brought down to the grave, along with
the noise of your harps; maggots are spread out beneath you and worms cover you. (Isaiah 14:9-11)
The earth dries up and withers, the world languishes and withers, the exalted of the earth languish.
The earth is defiled by its people; they have disobeyed the laws, violated the statutes and broken the
everlasting covenant. Therefore a curse consumes the earth; its people must bear their quilt.
Therefore earth’s inhabitants are burned up, and very few are left. The new wine dries up and the
vines withers; all the merrymakers groan. The gaiety of the tambourines is stilled, the noise of the
revelers has stopped, the joyful harp is silent. No longer do they drink wine with a song; the beer is
bitter to its drinkers. The ruined city lies desolate; the entrance to every house is barred. In the streets
they cry out for wine; all joy turns to gloom, all gaiety is banished from the earth. The city is left in

ruins, its gate is battered to pieces. So will it be on the earth and among the nations, as when an olive
tree is beaten, or as when gleanings are left after the grape harvest. (Isaiah 24:4-13)
Terror and pit and snare await you, O people of the earth. Whoever flees at the sound of terror will fall
into a pit; whoever climbs out of the pit will be caught in a snare. The floodgates of the heavens are
opened, the foundations of the earth shake. The earth is broken up, the earth is split asunder, the
earth is thoroughly shaken. The earth reels like a drunkard, it sways like a hut in the wind; so heavy
upon it is the quilt of its rebellion that it falls – never to rise again. (Isaiah 24:17-20)
Go, my people, enter your rooms and shut the doors behind you; hide yourselves for a little while until
His wrath passed by. See, the LORD is coming out of His dwelling to punish the people of the earth
for their sins. The earth will disclose the blood shed upon her; she will conceal her slain no longer.
(Isaiah 26:20-21)
When terror comes, they will seek peace, but there will be none. Calamity upon calamity will come,
and rumor upon rumor. They will try to get a vision from the prophet; the teaching of the law by the
priest will be lost, as will the counsel of the elders. The king will mourn, the prince will be clothed with
despair, and the hands of the people of the land will tremble. I will deal with them according to their
conduct, and by their own standards I will judge them. Then they will know that I am the LORD.
(Ezekiel 7:25-27)
As I looked, thrones were set in place, and the Ancient of Days took His seat. His clothing was as
white as snow; the hair of His head was white like wool. His throne was flaming with fire, and its
wheels were all ablaze. A river of fire was flowing, coming out from before Him. Thousands upon
thousands attended Him; ten thousand times ten thousand stood before Him. The court was seated,
and the books were opened. (Daniel 7:9-10)
Multitudes who sleep in the dust of the earth will awake: some to everlasting life, others to shame and
everlasting contempt. (Daniel 12:2)
I will show wonders in the heavens and on the earth, blood and fire and billows of smoke. The sun will
be turned to darkness and the moon to blood before the coming of the great and dreadful day of the
LORD. And every one who calls on the name of the LORD will be saved. (Joel 2:30-32)
“There will be wailing in all the streets and cries of anguish in every public square. The farmers will be
summoned to weep and the mourners to wail. There will be wailing in all the vineyards, for I will pass
through your midst,” says the LORD. Woe to you who long for the day of the LORD! Why do you long
for the day of the LORD? That day will be darkness, not light. It will be as though a man fled from a
lion only to meet a bear, as though he entered his house and rested his hand on the wall only to have
a snake bite him. Will not the day of the LORD be darkness, not light – pitch-dark, without a ray of the
brightness? (Amos 5:16-20)

“So I will come near to you for judgment. I will be quick to testify against sorcerers, adulterers and
perjurers, against those who defraud laborers of their wages, who oppress the widows and the
fatherless, and deprive aliens of justice, but do not fear me,” says the LORD Almighty. (Malachi 3:5)
“Surely the day is coming; it will burn like a furnace. All the arrogant and every evildoer will be stubble,
and that day that is coming will set them on fire,” says the LORD Almighty. “Not a root or a branch will
be left to them.” (Malachi 4:1)
Do not be afraid of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather, be afraid of the One who
can destroy both soul and body in hell. (Matthew 10:28)
But I tell you that men will have to give account on the day of judgment for every careless word they
have spoken. For by your words you will be acquitted, and by your words you will be condemned.
(Matthew 12:36-37)
As the weeds are pulled up and burned in the fire, so it will be at the end of the age. The Son of Man
will send out His angels, and they will weed out of His kingdom everything that causes sin and all who
do evil. They will throw them in the fiery furnace, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.
Then the righteous will shine like the sun in the kingdom of their Father. (Matthew 13:40-43)
Once again, the kingdom of heaven is like a net that was let down into the lake and caught all kinds of
fish. When it was full, the fishermen pulled it up on the shore. Then they sat down and collected the
good fish in baskets, but threw the bad away. This is how it will be at the end of the age. The angels
will come and separate the wicked from the righteous and throw them into the fiery furnace, where
there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth. (Matthew 13:47-50)
You snakes! You brood of vipers! How will you escape being condemned to hell? (Matthew 23:33)
When the Son of Man comes in His glory, and all the angels with Him, He will sit on His throne in
heavenly glory. All the nations will be gathered before Him, and He will separate the people one from
another as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats. He will put the sheep on His right and the
goats on His left. Then the King will say to those on His right, “Come, you who are blessed by my
Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world. For I was
hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a
stranger and you invited me in, I need clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after
me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.” Then the righteous will answer Him, “Lord, when did
we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? When did we see you a
stranger and invited you in, or needing clothes and clothe you? When did we see you sick or in prison
and go to visit you?” The King will reply, “I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of
these brothers of mine, you did for me.” Then He will say to those on His left, “Depart from me, you
who are cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels. For I was hungry and you
gave me nothing to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me nothing to drink, I was a stranger and you did
not invite me in, I needed clothes and you did not clothe me, I was sick and in prison and you did not

look after me.” They also will answer, “Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or
needing clothes or sick or in prison, and did not help you?” He will reply, “I tell you the truth, whatever
you did not do for one of the least of these, you did not do for me.” Then they will go away to eternal
punishment, but the righteous to eternal life. (Matthew 25:31-46)
If your hand causes you to sin, cut it off. It is better for you to enter life maimed than with two hands to
go into hell, where the fire never goes out. And if your foot causes you to sin, cut it off. It is better for
you to enter life crippled than to have two feet and be thrown into hell. And if your eye causes you to
sin, pluck it out. It is better for you to enter the kingdom of God with one eye than to have two eyes
and be thrown into hell, where their worm does not die, and the fire is not quenched. (Mark 9:43-48)
The time came when the beggar died and the angels carried him to Abraham’s side. The rich man
also died and was buried. In hell, where he was in torment, he looked up and saw Abraham far away,
with Lazarus by his side. So he called to him, “Father Abraham, have pity on me and send Lazarus to
dip the tip of his finger in water and cool my tongue, because I am in agony in this fire.” But Abraham
replied, “Son, remember that in your lifetime you received your good things, while Lazarus received
bad things, but now he is comforted here and you are in agony. And besides all this, between us and
you a great chasm has been fixed, so that those who want to go from here to you cannot, nor can
anyone cross over from there to us.” (Luke 16:22-26)
Jesus turned and said to them, “Daughters of Jerusalem, do not weep for me; weep for yourselves
and for your children. For the time will come when you will say, ‘Blessed are the barren women, the
wombs that never bore and the breasts that never nursed!’ Then ‘they will say to the mountains, “Fall
on us!” and to the hills, “Cover us!”’ For if men do these things when the tree is green, what will
happen when it is dry?” (Luke 23:28-31)
I tell you the truth, a time is coming and has now come when the dead will hear the voice of the Son
of God and those who hear will live. For as the Father has life in Himself, so He has granted the Son
to have life in Himself. And He has given Him authority to judge because He is the Son of Man. Do
not be amazed at this, for a time is coming when all who are in their graves will hear His voice and
come out – those who have done good will rise to live, and those who have done evil will rise to be
condemned. By my myself I can do nothing; I judge only as I hear, and my judgment is just, for I seek
not to please myself but Him who sent me. (John 5:25-30)
There is a judge for the one who rejects me and does not accept my words; that very word which I
spoke will condemn him at the last day. (John 12:48)
For He has set a day when He will judge the world with justice by the Man He has appointed. He has
given proof of this to all men by raising Him from the dead. (Acts 17:31)
This will take place on the day when God will judge men’s secrets through Jesus Christ, as my gospel
declares. (Romans 2:16)

We will all stand before God’s judgment seat. It is written: “‘As surely as I live,’ says the Lord, ‘every
knee will bow before me; every tongue will confess to God.’” So then, each of us will give an account
of himself to God. (Romans 14:10-12)
For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, that each one may receive what is due
him for the things done while in the body, whether good or bad. (2 Corinthians 5:10)
This will happen when the Lord Jesus is revealed from heaven in blazing fire with His powerful angels.
He will punish those who do not know God and do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus. They will
be punished with everlasting destruction and shut out from the presence of the Lord and from the
majesty of His power on the day He comes to be glorified in His holy people and to be marveled at
among all those who have believed. This includes you, because you believed our testimony to you.
(2 Thessalonians 1:7-10)
Man is destined to die once, and after that to face judgment. (Hebrews 9:27)
Speak and act as those who are going to be judged by the law that gives freedom, because judgment
without mercy will be shown to anyone who has not been merciful. Mercy triumphs over judgment!
(James 2:12-13)
They will have to give account to Him who is ready to judge the living and the dead. For this is the
reason the gospel was preached even to those who are now dead, so that they might be judged
according to men in regard to the body, but live according to God in regard to the spirit. (1Peter 4:5-6)
For it is time for judgment to begin with the family of God; and if it begins with us, what will the
outcome be for those who do not obey the gospel of God? And, “If it is hard for the righteous to be
saved, what will become of the ungodly and the sinners?” (1Peter 4:17-18)
For if God did not spare angels when they sinned, but sent them to hell, putting them into gloomy
dungeons to be held for judgment. (2 Peter 2:4)
If this is so, then the Lord knows how to rescue godly men from trials and to hold the unrighteous for
the day of judgment, while continuing their punishment. This is especially true of those who follow the
corrupted desire of the sinful nature and despise authority. (2 Peter 2:9-10)
By the same word the present heavens and earth are reserved for fire, being kept for the day of
judgment and destruction of ungodly men. (2 Peter 3:7)
And the angels who did not keep their positions of authority but abandoned their own home – these
He has kept in darkness, bound with everlasting chains for judgment on the great Day. In a similar
way, Sodom and Gomorrah and the surrounding towns gave themselves up to sexual immorality and
perversion. They serve as an example of those who suffer the punishment of eternal fire. (Jude 1:6-7)

Enoch, the seventh from Adam, prophesied about these men: “See, the Lord is coming with
thousands upon thousands of His holy ones to judge everyone, and to convict all the ungodly of all
the ungodly acts they have done in the ungodly way, and of all the harsh words ungodly sinners have
spoken against Him.” These men are grumblers and faultfinders; they follow their own evil desires;
they boast about themselves and flatter others for their own advantage. (Jude 1:14-16)
And the devil, who deceived them, was thrown into the lake of burning sulfur, where the beast and the
false prophets had been thrown. They will be tormented day and night for ever and ever.
(Revelation 20:10)
Then I saw a great while throne and Him who was seated on it. Earth and sky fled from His presence,
and there was no place for them. And I saw the dead, great and small, standing before the throne,
and books were opened. Another book was opened, which is the book of life. The dead were judged
according to what they had done as recorded in the books. The sea gave up the dead that were in it,
and death and Hades gave up the dead that were in them, and each person was judged according to
what he had done. Then death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire. The lake of fire is the
second death. If anyone’s name was not found written in the book of life, he was thrown into the lake
of fire. (Revelation 20:11-15)
But the cowardly, the unbelieving, the vile, the murderers, the sexually immoral, those who practice
magic arts, the idolaters and all liars – their place will be in the fiery lake of burning sulfur. This is the
second death. (Revelation 21:8)
5 – The Millennium
The wolf will live with the lamb, the leopard will lie down with the goat, the calf and the lion and the
yearling together; and a little child will lead them. The cow will feed with the bear, their young will lie
down together, and the lion will eat straw like the ox. The infant will play near the hole of the cobra,
and the young child put his hand into the viper’s nest. They will neither harm nor destroy on all my
holy mountain, for the earth will be full of the knowledge of the LORD as the waters cover the sea.
(Isaiah 11:6-9)
In that day men will look to their Maker and turn their eyes to the Holy One of Israel. They will not look
to the altars, the work of their hands, and they will have no regard for the Asherah poles and the
incense altars their fingers have made. (Isaiah 17:7-8)
“Behold, I will create new heavens and a new earth. The former things will not be remembered, nor
will they come to mind. But be glad and rejoice forever in what I will create, for I will create Jerusalem
to be a delight and its people a joy. I will rejoice over Jerusalem and take delight in my people; the
sound of weeping and of crying will be heard in it no more. Never again will there be in it an infant
who lives but a few days, or an old man who does not live out his years; he who dies at a hundred will
be thought a mere youth; he who fails to reach a hundred will be considered accursed. They will build
houses and dwell in them; they will plant vineyards and eat their fruit. No longer will they build houses

and others will live in them, or plant and others eat. For as the days of a tree, so will be the days of
my people; my chosen ones will long enjoy the works of their hands. They will not toil in vain or bear
children doomed to misfortune; for they will be a people blessed by the LORD, they and their
descendants with them. Before they call I will answer; while they are still speaking I will hear. The wolf
and the lamb will feed together, and the lion will eat straw like the ox, but dust will be the serpent’s
food. They will neither harm nor destroy on all my holy mountain,” says the LORD. (Isaiah 65:17-25)
In the last days the mountain of the LORD’s temple will be established as chief among the mountains;
it will be raised above the hills, and peoples will stream to it. Many nations will come and say, “Come,
let us go up to the mountain of the LORD, to the house of the God of Jacob. He will teach us His
ways, so that we may walk in His paths.” The law will go out from Zion, the word of the LORD from
Jerusalem. He will judge between many peoples and will settle disputes for strong nations far and
wide. They will beat their swords into plowshares and their spears into pruning hooks. Nation will not
take up sword against nation, nor will they train for war anymore. Every man will sit under his own
vine and under his own fig tree, and no one will make them afraid, for the LORD Almighty has spoken.
(Micah 4:1-4)
On that day living water will flow out from Jerusalem, half to the eastern sea and half to the western
sea, in summer and in winter. The LORD will be king over the whole earth. On that day there will be
one LORD, and His name the only name. (Zechariah 14:8-9)
“But for you who revere my name, the sun of righteousness will rise with healing in its wings. And you
will go out and leap like calves released from the stall. Then you will trample down the wicked; they
will be ashes under the soles of your feet on the day when I do these things,” says the LORD
Almighty. (Malachi 4:2-3)
And I saw an angel coming down out of heaven, having the key to the Abyss and holding in his hand
a great chain. He seized the dragon, that ancient serpent, who is the devil, or Satan, and bound him
for a thousand years. He threw him into the Abyss, and locked and sealed it over him, to keep him
from deceiving the nations anymore until the thousand years were ended. (Revelation 20:1-3)
And I saw the souls of those who had been beheaded because of their testimony for Jesus and
because of the word of God. They had not worshiped the beast or his image and had not received his
mark on their foreheads or their hands. They came to life and reigned with Christ a thousand years.
(The rest of the dead did not come to life until the thousand years were ended.) This is the first
resurrection. Blessed and holy are those who have part in the first resurrection. The second death
has no power over them, but they will be priests of God and of Christ and will reign with Him for a
thousand years. (Revelation 20:4-6)

6 – The Kingdom of Heaven and Eternal Life
For there the LORD bestows His blessing, even life forevermore. (Psalms 133:3)
The sun will no more be your light by day, nor will the brightness of the moon shine on you, for the
LORD will be your everlasting light, and your God will be your glory. Your sun will never set again,
and your moon will wane no more; the LORD will be your everlasting light, and your days of sorrow
will end. Then will all your people be righteous and they will possess the land forever. They are the
shoot I have planted, the work of my hands, for the display of my splendor. (Isaiah 60:19-21)
“As the new heavens and the new earth that I make will endure before me,” declares the LORD, “so
will your name and descendants endure.” (Isaiah 66:22)
In the time of those kings, the God of heaven will set up a kingdom that will never be destroyed, nor
will it be left to another people. It will crush all those kingdoms and bring them to an end, but it will
itself endure forever. (Daniel 2:44)
Then the sovereignty, power and greatness of the kingdoms under the whole heaven will be handed
over to the saints, the people of the Most High. His kingdom will be an everlasting kingdom, and all
rulers will worship and obey Him. (Daniel 7:27)
I tell you that unless your righteousness surpasses that of the Pharisees and the teachers of the law,
you will certainly not enter the kingdom of heaven. (Matthew 5:20)
Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction,
and many enter through it. But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few
find it. (Matthew 7:13-14)
Not everyone who says to me, “Lord, Lord,” will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only he who does
the will of my Father who is in heaven. Many will say to me on that day, “Lord, Lord, did we not
prophesy in your name, and in your name drive out demons and perform many miracles?” Then I will
tell them plainly, “I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!” (Matthew 7:21-23)
Then the righteous will shine like the sun in the kingdom of their Father. (Matthew 13:43)
The kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field. When a man found it, he hid it again, and
then in his joy went and sold all he had and bought that field. Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a
merchant looking for fine pearls. When he found one of great value, he went away and sold
everything he had and bought it. (Matthew 13:44-45)
I tell you the truth, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom
of heaven. Therefore, whoever humbles himself like this child is the greatest in the kingdom of
heaven. (Matthew 18:3-4)

Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven
belongs to such as these.” (Matthew 19:14)
And everyone who has left houses or brothers or sisters or father or mother or children or fields for
my sake will receive a hundred times as much and will inherit eternal life. But many who are first will
be last, and many who are last will be first. (Matthew 19:29-30)
Jesus spoke to them again in parables, saying: “The kingdom of heaven is like a king who prepared a
wedding banquet for his son. He sent his servants to those who had been invited to the banquet to
tell them to come, but they refused to come. Then he sent some more servants and said, ‘Tell those
who have been invited that I have prepared my dinner: My oxen and fattened cattle have been
butchered, and everything is ready. Come to the wedding banquet.’ But they paid no attention and
went off – one to his field, another to his business. The rest seized his servants, mistreated them and
killed them. The king was enraged. He sent his army and destroyed those murderers and burned their
city. Then he said to his servants, ‘The wedding banquet is ready, but those I invited did not deserve
to come. Go to the street corners and invite to the banquet anyone you find.’ So the servants went out
into the streets and gathered all the people they could find, both good and bad, and the wedding hall
was filled with guests. But when the king came in to see the guest, he noticed a man there who was
not wearing wedding clothes. ‘Friend,’ he asked, ‘how did you get in here without weeding clothes?’
the man was speechless. Then the king told the attendants, ‘Tie him hand and foot, and throw him
outside, into the darkness, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.’ For many are invited,
but few are chosen.” (Matthew 22:1-14)
Jesus looked at him and loved him. “One thing you lack,” He said. “Go, sell everything you have and
give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me.” At this the man’s face
fell. He went away sad, because he had great wealth. Jesus looked around and said to His disciples,
“How hard it is for the rich to enter the kingdom of God!...It is easier for a camel to go through the eye
of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God” (Mark 10:21-25)
“Well said, teacher,” the man replied. “You are right in saying that God is one and there is no other
but Him. To love Him with all your heart, with all your understanding and with all your strength, and to
love your neighbor as yourself is more important than all burnt offerings and sacrifices.” When Jesus
saw that he had answered wisely, He said to him, “You are not far from the kingdom of God.”
(Mark 12:32-34)
Jesus replied, “No one who puts his hand to the plow and looks back is fit for service in the kingdom
of God.” (Luke 9:62)
Do not be afraid, little flock, for your Father has been pleased to give you the kingdom. Sell your
possessions and give to the poor. Provide purses for yourselves that will not wear out, a treasure in
heaven that will not be exhausted, where no thief comes near and no moth destroys. For where your
treasure is, there your heart will be also. (Luke 12:32-34)

Make every effort to enter through the narrow door, because many, I tell you, will try to enter and will
not be able to. (Luke 13:24)
Once, having been asked by the Pharisees when the kingdom of God would come, Jesus replied,
“The kingdom of God does not come with your careful observation, nor will people say, ‘Here it is,’ or
‘There it is,’ because the kingdom of God is within you.” (Luke 17:20-21)
One of the criminals who hung there hurled insults at Him: “Aren’t you the Christ? Save yourself and
us!” But the other criminal rebuked him. “Don’t you fear God,” he said, “since you are under the same
sentence? We are punished justly, for we are getting what our deeds deserve. But this man has done
nothing wrong.” Then he said, “Jesus, remember me when you come into your kingdom.” Jesus
answered him, “I tell you the truth, today you will be with me in paradise.” (Luke 23:39-43)
Just as Moses lifted up the snake in the desert, so the Son of Man must be lifted up, that everyone
who believes in Him may have eternal life. For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only
Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life. (John 3:14-16)
Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life, but whoever rejects the Son will not see life, for God’s
wrath remains on him. (John 3:36)
I tell you the truth, whoever hears my word and believes Him who sent me has eternal life and will not
be condemned; he has crossed over from death to life. (John 5:24)
Do not work for food that spoils, but for food that endures to eternal life, which the Son of Man will
give you. On Him God the Father has placed His seal of approval. (John 6:27)
This is the will of Him who sent me, that I shall lose none of all that He has given me, but raise them
up at the last day. For my Father’s will is that everyone who looks to the Son and believes in Him
shall have eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last day. (John 6:39-40)
I tell you the truth, he who believes has everlasting life. (John 6:47)
I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one can snatch them out of my hand.
(John 10:28)
The man who loves his life will lose it, while the man who hates his life in this world will keep it for
eternal life. (John 12:25)
For I did not speak of my own accord, but the Father who sent me commanded me what to say and
how to say it. I know that His command leads to eternal life. So whatever I say is just what the Father
has told me to say. (John 12:49-50)

In my Father’s house are many rooms; if it were not so, I would have told you. I am going there to
prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be
with me that you also may be where I am. (John 14:2-3)
This is eternal life: that they may know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent.
(John 17:3)
We had to speak the word of God to you first. Since you reject it and do not consider yourselves
worthy of eternal life, we now turn to the Gentiles. For this is what the Lord has commanded us: “I
have made you a light for the Gentiles, that you may bring salvation to the ends of the earth.” When
the Gentiles heard this, they were glad and honored the word of the Lord; and all who were appointed
for eternal life believed. (Acts 13:46-48)
To those who by persistence in doing good seek glory, honor and immortality, He will give eternal life.
(Romans 2:7)
So that, just as sin reigned in death, so also grace might reign through righteousness to bring eternal
life through Jesus Christ our Lord. (Romans 5:21)
Now that you have been set free from sin and have become slaves to God, the benefit you reap leads
to holiness, and the result is eternal life. For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal
life in Christ Jesus our Lord. (Romans 6:22-23)
The kingdom of God is not a matter of eating and drinking, but of righteousness, peace and joy in the
Holy Spirit, because anyone who serves Christ in this way is pleasing to God and approved by men.
(Romans 14:17)
Do you not know that the wicked will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the
sexual immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor male prostitutes nor homosexual offenders nor
thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God.
(1Corinthians 6:9-10)
I declare to you, brothers, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God, nor does the
perishable inherit the imperishable. (1Corinthians 15:50)
Now we know that if the earthly tent we live in is destroyed, we have a building from God, an eternal
house in heaven, not built by human hands. Meanwhile we groan, longing to be clothes with our
heavenly dwelling, because when we are clothed, we will not be found naked. For while we are in this
tent, we groan and are burdened, because we do not wish to be unclothed but to be clothes with our
heavenly dwelling, so that what is mortal may be swallowed up by life. (2 Corinthians 5:1-4)
I will go on to visions and revelations from the Lord. I know a man in Christ who fourteen years ago
was caught up to the third heaven. Whether it was in the body or out of the body I do not know – God

knows. And I know that this man – whether in the body or apart from the body I do not know, but God
knows – was caught up to paradise. He heard inexpressible things, things that man is not permitted to
tell. (2 Corinthians 12:1-4)
The one who sows to please the Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life. (Galatians 6:8)
For of this you can be sure: No immoral, impure or greedy person – such a man is an idolater – has
any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God. (Ephesians 5:5)
Being strengthened with all power according to His glorious might so that you may have great
endurance and patience, and joyfully giving thanks to the Father, who has qualified you to share in
the inheritance of the saints in the kingdom of light. For He has rescued us from the dominion of
darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son He loves, in whom we have redemption, the
forgiveness of sins. (Colossians 1:11-14)
All these people were still living by faith when they died. They did not receive the things promised;
they only saw them and welcomed them from a distance. And they admitted that they were aliens and
strangers on earth. People who say such things show that they are looking for a country of their own.
If they had been thinking of the country they had left, they would have had opportunity to return.
Instead, they were longing for a better country - a heavenly one. Therefore God is not ashamed to be
called their God, for He has prepared a city for them. (Hebrews 11:13-16)
But you have come to Mount Zion, to the heavenly Jerusalem, the city of the living God. You have
come to thousands upon thousands of angels in joyful assembly, to the church of the firstborn, whose
names are written in heaven. You have come to God, the judge of all men, to the spirits of righteous
men made perfect, to Jesus the mediator of a new covenant, and to the sprinkled blood that speaks a
better word than the blood of Abel. (Hebrews 12:22-24)
The words “once more” indicate the removing of what can be shaken – that is, created things – so
that what cannot be shaken may remain. Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom that cannot be
shaken, let us be thankful, and so worship God acceptable with reverence and awe, for our “God is a
consuming fire.” (Hebrews 12:27-29)
Has not God chosen those who are poor in the eyes of the world to be rich in faith and to inherit the
kingdom He promised those who love Him? (James 2:5)
Therefore, my brothers, be all the more eager to make your calling and election sure. For if you do
these things, you will never fall, and you will receive a rich welcome into the eternal kingdom of our
Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. (2 Peter 1:10-11)
But in keeping with His promise we are looking forward to a new heaven and a new earth, the home
of righteousness. (2 Peter 3:13)

This is what He promised us – even eternal life. (1John 2:25)
And this is the testimony: God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son. He who has the
Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life. (1John 5:11-12)
I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God so that you may know that you
have eternal life. (1John 5:13)
We know also that the Son of God has come and has given us understanding, so that we may know
Him who is true. And we are in Him who is true – even in His Son Jesus Christ. He is the true God
and eternal life. (1John 5:20)
They are before the throne of God and serve Him day and night in His temple; and He who sits on the
throne will spread His tent over them. Never again will they hunger; never again will they thirst. The
sun will not beat upon them, nor any scorching heat. For the Lamb at the center of the throne will be
their shepherd; He will lead them to springs of living water. And God will wipe away every tear from
their eyes. (Revelation 7:15-17)
Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away,
and there was no longer any sea. I saw the Holy City, the new Jerusalem, coming down out of
heaven from God, prepared as a bride beautifully dressed for her husband. And I heard a loud voice
from the throne saying, “Now the dwelling of God is with men, and He will live with them. They will be
His people, and God Himself will be with them and be their God. He will wipe every tear from their
eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has
passed away. He who was seated on the throne said, “I am making everything new!” Then He said,
“Write this down, for these words are trustworthy and true.” He said to me: “It is done. I am the Alpha
and the Omega, the Beginning and the End. To him who is thirsty I will give to drink without cost from
the spring of the water of life.” (Revelation 21:1-6)
Then the angel showed me the river of the water of life, as clear as crystal, flowing from the throne of
God and of the Lamb down the middle of the great street of the city. On each side of the river stood
the tree of life, bearing twelve crops of fruit, yielding its fruit every month. And the leaves of the tree
are for the healing of the nations. No longer will there be any curse. The throne of God and of the
Lamb will be in the city, and His servants will serve Him. They will see His face, and His name will be
on their foreheads. There will be no more night. They will not need the light of a lamp or the light of
the sun, for the Lord God will give them light. And they will reign for ever and ever.
