Dear Applicant,
Congratulations on your decision to apply to the 109th class of the Bucket and Dipper Junior Class
Honorary. Bucket and Dipper is rich with Ohio State tradition. The second oldest honorary on
campus, Bucket and Dipper recognizes approximately 30 outstanding members of the Junior class
based on the three pillars of the honorary system: scholarship, leadership, and service. Bucket and
Dipper is active in many areas throughout the university. The most notable event is the Illibuck pass,
a football tradition dating back to 1925. In addition, members of Bucket & Dipper bond over giving
back to the community in various service activities and volunteer opportunities. Bucket and Dipper
members also meet frequently for socials and participate in activities with other honoraries.
While completing your application, please feel free to look over Bucket and Dipper’s website at
http://bucketanddipper.org.ohio-state.edu/to get a further understanding of what this class
honorary values in its members.
After completing the forms and components below, applications will need to be compiled into two
separate word documents. The first should include the general information sheet, the applicant’s
resume, and the grade release form. The second should contain all essay responses. Both documents
should be titled with the applicant’s name (i.e. janedoe1.doc and janedoe2.doc). These documents
should then be sent as an attachment to mccracken.100@osu.edu. Applications are due by January
22nd at 11:59PM
A few other things to consider when applying for Bucket and Dipper, or any other class honorary
include:
-Applicants must have a minimum GPA of 3.0 in order to apply.
-When considering the Junior class honoraries, applicants are only permitted to apply to one
of the two honoraries: Bucket and Dipper OR Chimes. Applying to both Junior Class
Honoraries will result in the application being discarded.
-When writing essays, applicants should NOT state their names anywhere in this portion of
the application. The Word Document should be titled with the applicant’s name and that is
all.
-Please note that members of Bucket and Dipper will be asked to pay $40 in dues once they
are accepted into the organization.
If you are chosen to advance in the application process beyond the written portion, we will contact
you about an interview no later than February 8th. If selected to move forward in the selections
process, Bucket & Dipper will be conducting interviews on February 20th and 21st. Please hold
these dates free in your schedules. If you have any questions about Bucket and Dipper or the
application, please feel free to contact me (mccracken.100@osu.edu) or Bucket and Dipper
President, Daniel Rodriguez (rodriguez.559@osu.edu).
Thank you so much for taking the time to apply to the 109th class of Bucket and Dipper!
Best Wishes,
Summer McCracken
