• How does Genesis 22:1-19 relate to Ch. 7?
• “Some time later God tested Abraham. He said to him,

• Then God said, “Take your son, your only son, whom you
love—Isaac—and go to the region of Moriah. Sacrifice him
there as a burnt offering on a mountain I will show you.”……
• Isaac spoke up and said to his father Abraham, “Father?”
• “Yes, my son?” Abraham replied.
• “The fire and wood are here,” Isaac said, “but where is the
lamb for the burnt offering?”
• Abraham answered, “God himself will provide the lamb for the

newborns in the last few years (What are
some common names moms/dads are
using to name their kids?)
• What does your name mean? Why did
your parents give you this name? If you
could change your name, what would you
change it to? Why would you choose this
name?
• HW: Finish reading chapters 8-10
• Okonkwo’s second wife Ekwefi “had suffered a good
deal in her life. She had borne ten children and
• nine of them had died in infancy, usually before the
age of three.” This misfortune is attributed
• to ogbanjie, wicked children who are repeatedly
reincarnated. Because of the deaths, Ekwefi gives her
• children names that reflect her belief in the
reincarnation process. In addition, names are so
important to the members of the Ibo tribe that they
hold naming ceremonies seven weeks after the birth of
a child.
