Amos, Cynthia Briscoe Brown, Leslie Grant and Matt Westmoreland - Members of the Atlanta Board of Education Tim Guiney – Principal, Grady High School 2 Meeting Purpose • • • Summarize outcomes of our last community meeting Present solutions for moving forward Align on strategy for moving forward to address Grady Cluster capacity concerns 3 Grady Cluster 4 Summary of February and May Meetings • Discussed enrollment issues at Inman and other factors - Non-viability of original solution of adding eight classrooms - Proposed Druid Hills annexation • APS administrators presented space recommendations, including an Inman 14 classroom addition, an Inman 6th Grade campus and a Howard Junior High as solutions. • Druid Hills annexation proposal did not pass the legislature. • In April 2015, the Board set new attendance boundaries (beginning in 2017-2018 school year) for Centennial Place Academy for a middle school. • APS administrators presented the creation of Howard Middle School, Inman 9th Grade Academy and new APS athletic practice fields on former Walden Middle School campus. 5 Proposed Solutions • Given community feedback and preferences, APS administrators re-examined options for solutions. • Current proposed solutions to address space and enrollment in the Grady Cluster Expand Grady campus and address recommendations from the Facility Condition Assessment Create a Howard Middle School Build new APS athletic practice fields on former Walden Middle School campus Convert Inman campus into additional elementary capacity for the cluster 6 Grady Campus Expansion • Costs: $33 million o Estimated $22 million (18 Classrooms and 3 laboratories addition, New Administrative Suite) o Estimated $11 million (Facility Condition Assessment recommendations) • Considerations: o Maintain High School configuration (grades 9-12) o Removal of portables o Green space reduction o Dependent on approval of the next SPLOST Referendum by the voters • Capacity: 1,725 FTE @ 25/1 7 Howard Middle School (Former David T.
