Today we will be looking at a map of the Hubbs Center and exploring what the school has
to offer. Pay close attention to the room numbers posted on each room, and also pay
close attention to which direction you hold the map.
1. Look at the map. What is the number of the room you are in? _______

2. Now you are ready to start exploring the school. On the map find room 1201. This is
the student lounge. It is a place for students to come and relax. List 3 snacks that can
be found in the vending machines in the student lounge.

3. Look again at the map. Now find room 1408. This is the Learning Lab (previously
named the Media Center). The Learning Lab offers free access to computers for any
Hubbs students. Just make sure to scan your ID card before using computers! How

4. Find room 1418 on the map. This room is the Digital Education Lab (DEL for short) and
is a place where anyone can get help improving their computer skills. What shape is

5. This summer a bad rainstorm came through St. Paul and students and teachers had to
go to Tornado Shelters in the building. These rooms are away from the doors and
windows and usually are near the center of the building. Find room 1307. There is
a sign that says “Tornado Shelter” on it. This is one of the 8 rooms you should go to in

Teacher’s Note: This Speaking Game is computer-based. If you prefer, you can make a chart with the
information for the service providers that students can look at find the answers to the questions.
Game Preparation:
1. Form a group of 3 or 4 students.
2. Cut out the question cards (low) or question word cards (high) and the service
provider cards.
3. Put each group of cards in separate piles face down on the table.
4. Turn on a laptop computer and go to the Hubbs webpage. Click on Students. Click
on Resources at Hubbs in the middle of the page. You will use the Calendar for
Learner Services on this page to answer the questions about the services at Hubbs.
The Game-Beg: Take turns doing the following…
1. Choose one card from the top of each pile. You will have 1 question card and the
