Brief Background of songwriter.
The context of the song is a modernized love breaking up song about a woman losing feelings for her husband as
he broke her heart, she tries to move on but her feelings won’t allow her to. The woman is finally happy that she
forgot about him, but yet her feelings still stay and hunt her. Her husbands belongings still remind her of the good
times they had, although his gone now he will always remain in her heart because it isn't easy letting someone
you truly love go so easily.
This song also has intertexual references to god as the woman mentions god to help her find strength and forget
about the past and move on, but sadly even god’s powers cannot help mend her broken heart and forget the
past.
Lyrics
God knows it's time for me to move on
she refers to god as her father-like figure, as she needs support.
I want to feel alive again
I want to be in love again
And no matter how hard I try
I can't erase you from my mind
And I gotta find somebody new
trying to find someone new, but she only has her husband on her mind.
But I just can't give over you.

The meaning of the song is to understand the pain a woman goes through when she tries to
forget her love life, no matter how hard she tries to move on her love is like flames it never runs
out because its so strong. She doesn't have a choice to stay with him because he has already hurt
her so many times, so she lost her trust within their relationship now she is going through the
pain not seeing him anymore. The purpose is to let those people who have gone through the
same process of trying to forget someone they love, but yet still remain it teaches people a lesson
to believe that if you really want to see them again then you should instead of being in pain and
trying to deal with the mixed emotions everyday in your life.
