Perry-Lecompton High School Anatomy- Syllabus Instructor Kelly Haggard E-mail khaggard@usd343.org Contact Hours 11:35 – 12:52 Course Description: We will study the anatomical structures of the human body, the organs and systems these structures make-up, and how many of those structures function. Much emphasis will be placed on how structure leads to efficient function. This class can be taken for PLHS credit or both PLHS and HCC credit. As an elective, the expectations for students are very high. Reading and study will be heavy and require several hours a week outside of class, depending upon student ability. Students should sometimes expect reading up to 2 chapters between classes. Students will also be expected to perform detailed dissection of the cat. Attendance in this class is crucial to good performance. Students are responsible for making-up all missed work whether an absence is excused or unexcused. After 5 absences of any kind a student must meet with Mr. Haggard to develop a plan to remain in good standing or lose credit for the course. Consult Student handbook for full attendance policy. Students enrolled concurrently in this class through Highland are subject to the HCC attendance policies as well. Text(s): Tortora, Gerard J. andBryan Derrickson.
