Pre-reading
• Predict the role of the following items
in the novel:
– sneakers
– peach preserves
– sunflower seeds
– onion
– lipstick tube
– fish fossil
– box of stationery
Chapters 1-3
• Describe the setting of the novel so far.
This should be in paragraph form.
Remember, the first sentence is an
introductory sentence stating three facts.
The second through fourth sentence
describes the three facts (supporting
sentences.) The last sentence should be the
concluding sentence that restates the main
idea.
Chapters 4-6
• We have met the main character Stanley.
How are you like him? How are you
different from him? Write on paragraph
about how you are like him, and write a
second paragraph about how you are
different. Make sure you use the paragraph
form that I have taught you!
Chapters 11-13
• Stanley was trying to decide whether
to help X-Ray or be selfish. Then,
he was discovered before he could
decide. Why should he have been
selfish? Why should he have given
the object to X-Ray? Answer each
question in a five sentence
paragraph. (You should have two
paragraphs.)

a catchy slogan to represent Camp Green
Lake and add appropriate artwork.
