Job Opening: Administrative Co-Director
Responsible to: Co-Chairs, Executive Committee and Board of Directors
Location: Pierre, SD office
Hours: 40 hours/week, some weekends and evenings
Salary:
Depends on experience

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
 Major focus of this position is the administration of fiscal management and fund raising systems, including budgeting,
fund-raising, grant writing, grant management and contract negotiation, pursuant to grantor requirements, consulting
with Executive Board and Native Co-director. Duties include monthly review of bank reconciliations, financial
reports, approval of expenses, signing checks and vouchers, keeping current cuff accounts, etc.
 Write grants and Annual Budgets based upon Strategic Plan and in consultation with the Executive Board and Native
Co-Director. Advise Native Co-Director and the Executive Board of respective grant requirements in writing prior to
consultation.
 Participate in Strategic Planning. Assist Native Co-Director in training, meeting and conference agenda development,
as requested.
 Manage the administrative office, which includes supervising employees and consultants who work directly with the
administrative office.
 Coordinate with Native Co-Director to provide technical assistance and training to member programs of the Coalition
(on-site phone, mail, web based) to accomplish the greatest good for several programs at once, if possible. Work
closely with the Native Co-Director and Co-Chairs to share information and coordinate activities as it relates to the
Coalition and to coordinate decisions concerning staff.
 Assist Native Co-Director in the development of education, outreach and informational materials, as requested. Must
submit all material to grant programs that request such a review and approval. Also ensure compilation of
information and research regarding domestic violence and sexual assault and disseminate to member organizations.
Compile statewide statistics on domestic violence and sexual assault as directed by the Coalition.
 Act as a spokesperson for the Coalition; assist in the coordination of statewide media campaign, press releases, act as
the voice for the Coalition in pertinent to State, Tribal and National issues. Must perform work necessary to determine
impact of institutional policies as they affect women and children, disseminating that information to the membership.
Monitor state and national legislation relating to domestic violence and sexual assault. Work with local, state,
regional, and national organizations, attending meetings as requested by the Board or as necessary to fulfill grant
requirements and maximize networking with other State and territorial Coalitions, the Office on Violence Against
Women, the Department of Health and Human Services, Administration on Children, Youth and Families and other
cognizant agencies.
 Work with Native Co-Director and recommend and update personnel policies, financial policies, By-Laws with
approval of board of directors.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Must be knowledgeable about the dynamics of domestic and sexual violence and the connection to other forms of
oppression; proven leadership, grant writing and management skills and personnel management skills; grant writing and
grant management experience, including a working knowledge of GAAP, OMB Circulars A-121 and A-133 and all
relevant updates; experience in training small to large groups of people; ability to learn new concepts and best practices
and convey information to membership; experience in developing and promoting institutional policy change; familiarity
with legislative process; good verbal skills; good organizational skills; computer skills; self-starter.
