Theme: 21st Century- Contemporary Perspectives
Big Idea
Recognize the emergence of dynamic views represented
in literary texts.
Technology has changed the American culture.
Note the influence that contemporary perspectives have
on the “common reader” of everyday literature (e.g.,
newspaper, magazines, internet, etc.).

Essential Standards:
RI-1 Cite strong and thorough textual evidence to support analysis of what the text says
explicitly as well as inferences drawn from the text, including determining where the text leaves
matters uncertain.
W-1 Write arguments to support claims in an analysis of substantive topics or texts, using valid
reasoning and relevant and sufficient evidence.
RI-7 Integrate and evaluate multiple sources of information presented in different media or
formats (e.g., visually, quantitatively) as well as in words in order to address a question or solve
a problem.

Assignment 1 Read chapter 1 and chapter 27. Then recreate the body of the story in at least
two pages.
