 Contract Administrators, Contract Professionals, Faculty, and
individuals on Letters of Appointment are paid monthly.
 Classified, Skilled Crafts and Temporary Staff are paid on a
biweekly basis (every other Wednesday).
 Student Employees are paid semi-monthly.

Vehicle Use
 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, except for
University holidays.
 The actual hours you work may vary, depending on the needs of
your department.
 You may also be permitted to work an alternative schedule, with
your supervisor‘s approval, to accommodate your needs and the
needs of the University.
 Requests for reasonable workplace accommodations should be
directed to Human Resource Services.
 Documentation is required from appropriate medical source
establishing the disability.
 Requested accommodations should be necessary to perform
essential functions of the position
The University of Montana observes the following Holidays:
 New Year’s Day - January 1
 Martin Luther King, Jr. Day - Third Monday in January
 Lincoln’s and Washington’s Birthdays - Third Monday in February
 Memorial Day - Last Monday in May
 Independence Day - July 4
 Labor Day - First Monday in September
 State General Election Day - First Tuesday in Nov. in even-numbered years
 Veterans Day - November 11
 Thanksgiving Day - Fourth Thursday in November
 Friday following Thanksgiving Day (exchanged for Columbus Day holiday)
 Christmas Day - December 25
 Holidays occurring on a Saturday are observed on the preceding Friday.
 Holidays occurring on Sunday are observed on the following Monday.
 Holiday benefits are paid to eligible faculty and staff at the regular rate
for up to eight hours or equivalent paid time off of up to eight hours.
 Holidays occurring during approved paid absences will not be charged
against accrued annual, sick, or military leave.
 Faculty on fiscal year appointments and administrators with
academic rank whose appointment is .5 FTE or greater accrue
annual leave on a monthly basis of 14 hours per month.
 Contract professionals and administrators accrue annual leave at
the rate of 10 hours per month.
 Classified staff accrue annual leave on a bi-weekly basis. (4.62
hours in a bi-weekly period).
 All employees become eligible to use their accrued annual leave
after completing six months of continuous employment with The
University of Montana. There is a graduated accrual rate which is
dependent on the number of years of employment.
 Accrued annual leave is paid out in full at termination if 6 months
of employment have been completed.
 Generally, all positions except faculty employed for less than a full academic
year are eligible to earn sick leave credits.
 Sick leave is defined as a leave of absence with pay for a sickness suffered by
a faculty or staff member or an immediate family member.
 Sick leave can be used for conditions such as:
 illness, injury, medical disability
 maternity/paternity-related absence
 medical/dental/visual examination or treatment
 care of or attendance to an immediate family member
 death or funeral attendance for an immediate family member
 Accrued sick leave is paid out at 25% at termination if 90 days of
employment have been completed.
 Accrual is 8 hours per month or 3.69 hours/bi-weekly (1.0 FTE)
 Eligible faculty and staff (permanent, non-probationary and working at least
.75 FTE) are entitled to a waiver of in-state tuition for regular courses of study
at The University of Montana.
 Supervisor approval is required. In this case employees are required to record
annual leave or leave without pay during their absence from work.
 Two IMPORTANT Notes:
 Faculty and Staff members who terminate during the academic semester in
which they receive a waiver will be required to reimburse the University for the
value of the waiver.
 If your FTE goes below .75 during the academic semester, you will be
required to reimburse the University for the value of the waiver.
 Must work at least 30 hrs/wk for 10 years at a Government Agency or a 501 (c) 3
Non-Profit while making full, on-time monthly payments towards your loans
 Does not have to be consecutive years nor the same organization for all 10 years
 Have the remainder of your loan forgiven at the end of the 10 years (not taxed on
the forgiven amount!)
 Must have qualifying types of loans, servicer and repayment plan

 In order to provide a safe and healthy environment for our
employees, students, and visitors. We became a tobacco-free
campus (via policy 406.1.1), in the fall of 2011.
 This prohibits tobacco use in or on property owned, leased, or
used for specific events by the University or any of its
components.
 For the purpose of this policy, “tobacco” includes any lighted or
unlighted cigarette, cigar, pipe, bidi, clove cigarette, smokeless or
spit tobacco, dissolvable tobacco, hookah shisha, snuff or snus,
kreteks, and cigarillos.
