Puget Sound Chapter Award Nominations WTS Puget Sound is now seeking nominations for the 2014/2015 Recognition Awards. The awards are: WTS Puget Sound Member of the Year WTS Puget Sound Woman of the Year WTS Puget Sound Employer of the Year (Small Organization & Large Organization) WTS Puget Sound Rosa Parks Diversity Leadership Award WTS Puget Sound Innovative Transportation Solutions Award Nominations must be emailed to wtspugetsound@gmail.com no later than 8:00 pm Pacific time on Monday January 5, 2015. The following summarizes each of the award categories; however, please refer to the specific criteria that must be addressed in your nomination, which is included at the end of the memo. Please note WTS International issued revised guidelines for the 2014/2015 awards for two categories, Employer of the Year and Innovative Transportation Solutions. Please review carefully before submitting your nominations. Member of the Year: Recognizes a WTS member who has made extraordinary contributions to the success of the organization. Woman of the Year: Honors a woman who is an outstanding role model and has contributed to the advancement of women and minorities in transportation. *Employer of the Year – Small Organization: Recognizes a business or agency with less than 100 total employees worldwide for its support of the goals and purpose of WTS. Please see new guidelines below. *Employer of the Year – Large Organization: Recognizes a business or agency with 100 or more total employees worldwide for its support of the goals and purpose of WTS. Rosa Parks Diversity Leadership Award: Honors an individual, group, or organization that has made significant contributions in promoting diversity and cultural awareness within their organization, the transportation industry, or in a project or activity that supports the goals and mission of WTS. Innovative Transportation Solutions Award: Honors an innovative transportation project or service led by a woman that improves the quality of life for its users and the community. The Selection Committee will choose one of the award winners to be considered for the WTS International Employer of the Year Award. SUBMITTAL REQUIREMENTS 1. AWARD CRITERIA The nomination process requires two submissions: a one-page summary and awards criteria supplemental information, which can be multiple pages. The one-page summary of the nominee will serve as the actual nomination. Member of the Year This award acknowledges a WTS member who has made extraordinary contributions to the success of the organization. Selection shall be based on the following criteria: 1. A member who has shown an extraordinary commitment to the goals and growth of WTS by working effectively in support of WTS goals. (Identify activities.) 2. A member who has promoted the reputation of WTS within the transportation industry. (Include an explanation describing how and what was done.) 3. A member who has worked effectively to strengthen communication between local and international WTS levels or between chapters. 4. A member who has done an outstanding job of revitalizing or expanding a chapter or any of its functions. Please note that nominee must have an active WTS International membership. Current members of the International Board of Directors should not be considered for Member of the Year. Woman of the Year This category is designed to reach out beyond our membership to honor a woman who is an outstanding role model in transportation. Selection shall be based on the following criteria: 1. A woman who is a leader in transportation and has made an outstanding contribution to the transportation industry. 2. A woman who has directly contributed toward the advancement of women and minorities through programs or opportunities in the transportation field. 3. A woman who through her career achievements and support of women in the industry has advanced the reputation and credibility of women in transportation. Employer of the Year (Small Organization & Large Organization) This award honors an organization (company, non-profit, association or government agency) for recruiting, retaining and advancing women. Contributing significantly to promoting diversity, inclusion and multi-cultural awareness within their organization, the transportation industry, or in a project or activity that supports the goals and mission of WTS. Innovative Transportation Solutions Award This award salutes an innovative transportation project led by a woman. Applications/nominations for the Innovative Transportation Solutions award should include the following: 1. Describe the purpose of the transportation initiative, solution, project or policy and the number of women involved from initiation to completion. 2. Identify the key elements of the project and how the female project manager successfully implemented those elements. 3. Illustrate how the female project manager successfully met and overcame challenges. 4. Explain how the project achieved its purpose.
