Understanding Mental Health - Panel with CHEO and The Royal Mental Health
Centre
Understanding Mental Health CHEO’s Chief Psychiatrist, Dr. Kathleen Pajer, and
Dr. Smita Thatte, Director of The Royal’s Youth Psychiatry Program, will talk
about the differences in the mental health of children and youth today, what that
means for parents, potential warning signs, and how parents can support their
kids. OCDSB psychologist Dr. Timothy Hogan will provide an overview of
OCDSB policies and resources relating to child and youth mental health. Join us
for a free parent information session on youth suicide, depression, anxiety, and
bullying. A panel of experts will focus on warning signs, practical tips and "how

Understanding Concussions — Recognizing the Signs and Symptoms - Dr.
Michael Vassilyadi
Learn about the diagnosis, treatment and management of concussions in young
people with Dr. Michael Vassilyadi, Dr. Kristian Goulet, Nurse Coordinator Gail
Macartney, and OCDSB staff. Our panel will help to inform parents about how to
prevent concussions and to recognize, treat and monitor, the progress of
recovery. The OCDSB's new procedure for concussions management is now

Healthy Bodies, Healthy Minds
Physical Literacy is more than just fitness and activity; it encourages a complete
understanding of the way our bodies move, function, and contribute to social,
physical, and emotional well-being. Dr. Rebecca Lloyd will provide a historical
perspective on physical literacy and what it means for the reformation of physical
education. Hear practical examples of how we may become physically literate in
our own lives as students, teachers, and parents. Thursday, November 26, 7:00
