Choice of post-secondary institution: Trent University and Sacred Heart of Peterborough. a. Students must be graduating in June 2012 and intending to register as full-time students (a minimum of 3.5 credits) at Trent University. b. Students must also register in a minimum of 1.0 credits at Sacred Heart of Peterborough, in courses approved for transfer credit towards a Trent degree. 2. Each Secondary School is asked to conduct its own internal candidate selection process with reference to the criteria outlined below, with a closing date of May 1, 2012. Please note that any qualified student may be considered for the scholarship and membership in a faith tradition is not a criterion. Secondary Schools are asked to collect application materials by May 1 and then submit application packages of a minimum of one and a maximum of three candidates to the Principal, Sacred Heart of Peterborough, Fr. Ervens Mengelle. 4. Sacred Heart will select one student from each Secondary School according to the following criteria, each to be weighed equally: a. Academic achievement across the top six 4U/M credits. If they form part of the student’s academic record, achievements in courses in philosophy, religious studies or world religions will be given additional consideration. Official transcripts are required as part of the application review process. b. A strong record of co-curricular and service learning activity while in secondary school. c. A letter of application to the Sr. Margaret Shannon Scholarship Program Selection Committee in which candidates: i. Outline briefly their co-curricular/service learning activity; ii. Explain why they wish to study at Trent (a secular institution) and at Sacred Heart (a Christian institution in the Catholic tradition) simultaneously; iii.
