AGENCY LOCATION Care International Dhading, Lamjung, Gorkha and Lalipur ACTIVITIES UNFPA and CARE are partnering together to conduct RH needs assessment and distribution of RH kits in these areas and focusing on the following activities: 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. International Medical Corps Dhading and Gorkha districts, Kathmandu and Working with Female Community Health Volunteers (FCHVs) for clean delivery kit distributions, community mobilization to establish referral networks and to encourage pregnant women to continue seeking healthcare services (ANCs and institutional delivery) Distribution of essential supplies for SRMH: Male condoms, clean delivery packages/kits; health facility delivery kits/supplies; referral level (hospital) emergency supplies (Procurement expected via UNFPA) Work with the UNFPA to deliver Minimum Initial Service Package (MISP) activities, including focus on community mobilization (possibly also logistics, especially for ‘last mile’ delivery in rural areas) Support to health facilities/birthing centres with equipment and work with midwives to support emergency obstetric care services and ensure effective referral systems Work with health cluster headed by Epidemiology and Disease Control Division, Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP) Co-ordinate with other actors operational with emergency responses, to ensure referrals and communicate IEC materials for safe deliveries IMC’s emergency response team (ERT) has been operating mobile medical units in Dhading and LAST UPDATED 5/3 5/2 Bhaktapur Jphiego JSI Kathmandu and several other districts (more info to come) Gorkha and deployed a mobile medical unit in Khulla Manch on April 30, which provided treatment to 55 patients. The ERT has conducted rapid assessments in each of the IDP camps in Kathmandu and Bhaktapur and are conducting assessments to expand efforts. IMC has 27 volunteers and 23 staff on the ground including doctors, nurses and surgeons, in addition to specialists in nutrition, mental health/psychosocial care and WASH Working closely with the MoH and other local and international partners, IMC’s team of doctors and nurses will deliver medical care and distribute medicines and supplies, including hygiene kits and water purification tablets in the hard-hit region. The team will also construct latrines in IDP camps in Kathmandu, reaching an estimated 10,000 people. Partnering with GFA (a German consulting group funded by GIZ, that we partner with in Dhading District and 10 districts in midwest and far-west Nepal) to provide support for reestablishing services, reassembling and preparing staff for health facilities, and setting up systems quickly to restore primary care services with a focus on MNH. Partnering with World Education and working closely with to work hand-in-hand with the MOH Family Health division and Child Health divisions to support their priorities in relief and recovery. Currently supplying some tents and water purification devises, and chlorohexadrine. 5/5 5/5 SPRINT/IPFF UNFPA Field hubs in Gorkha and Sindhupalchowk districts MISP response in partnership with 5/5 UNFPA and CARE, and the Family Planning Association of Nepal (FPAN). SPRINT is mobilizing youth volunteers and planning to reach out with information on condom use and safe sex. 5/4 Leading the RH and GBV subclusters UNFPA Reproductive Health Kits have arrived in Nepal and have been distributed to partners for dispatch to the worst-affected districts and the most disadvantaged communities. Many more RH kits are on their way, with a large consignment arriving by 6 May. Locally-acquired items for Dignity Kits are being packed by dozens of youth volunteers for a total of 6,500 kits, and are being sent out as well. 50,000 kits are being ordered through an existing LTA.
