For Release: Tuesday, October 20, 2015 All-New Chevrolet Malibu Launched in China Blends new design with innovative aesthetics and cutting-edge technology First of seven Chevrolet models coming to China through end of 2016 SHANGHAI – SAIC General Motors today launched the all-new Chevrolet Malibu, its global flagship upper-medium sedan and the first of seven Chevrolet models coming to China through the end of 2016. Six variants of the all-new Malibu are priced from RMB 164,900 to RMB 199,900. They are available for pre-order at Chevrolet dealerships across China. The all-new Malibu incorporates Chevrolet’s new-generation design language with innovative aesthetics and cutting-edge technology. It also comes with a choice of three engines and introduces the Chevrolet MyLink 2.1 infotainment system. Contemporary and Luxurious Design The all-new Malibu seamlessly integrates traditional American and contemporary design to present a sharp and sculptural exterior. It has adopted young and modern exterior styling while carrying over the sporty DNA of Chevrolet's iconic Corvette and Camaro performance cars. Eagle eye-shaped headlights, a three-dimensional dual-port grille and semi-framed three-dimensional fog lamps work together to give depth and aggression to the front end. Muscular lines on the hood accentuate its agility and dynamics. Classic LED dual-element taillights and muscular wheel arches outline its unique stance. Chevrolet’s signature dual-cockpit design creates a comfortable space for all occupants. A three-dimensional wave-like center console puts controls within easy reach of the driver. A three-spoke multi-function steering wheel inspired by the Camaro is paired with an exquisitely designed wing-shaped shift lever and an integrated dashboard to exemplify the brand’s “fun to drive” philosophy. Bolstering the premium feel is Datura Purple interior upholstery, which is making its debut in the all-new Malibu, with French dual stitching. It complements the black cockpit with corrugated surfaces and chrome accents that add to the feeling of luxury. Storage space has been increased 28 percent from the previous Malibu. Wireless Dual-Screen Connectivity The Chevrolet MyLink 2.1 infotainment system is making its debut in the all-new Malibu. It has been upgraded for faster response. With a class-leading 8-inch high- definition color touch screen, it also provides sharper images. It makes the all-new Malibu the only model in its class that offers wireless connectivity with a second screen. Chevrolet MyLink 2.1 is compatible with Apple and Android systems. Users can easily connect their smartphones and enjoy two-way control through WLAN and Bluetooth. The system features a built-in app store with four apps: Mychevy, Cloud Call, Network Radio and E-Manual. Cloud Call enables users to make calls nationwide at local rates securely and reliably. The system also provides Chinese voice recognition and control, intelligent voice navigation and a dynamic reversing track display. Choice of Engines and Responsive Suspension The all-new Malibu comes with a choice of GM's advanced 2.4L SIDI and 2.0L DVVT engines, along with a 1.6L Ecotec turbocharged engine. It comes standard with a six-speed automatic transmission, which delivers smooth shifts in a fuel-efficient and quiet manner. The all-new Malibu has a MacPherson front suspension that is mated to a full subframe, as well as a reinforced four-link rear suspension. This effectively insulates vibrations from the road surface, improving comfort and reducing noise. The unique CCI technology and stable, reliable chassis ensure steady handling on challenging road conditions. The all-new Malibu has adopted the user-friendly Abyssal Sea Tuning System, which integrates 32 noise-damping solutions for a quiet and soothing ride. Engineers made safety a priority. Most of the body of the all-new Malibu is made of high-strength steel with optimized shock absorption features. Among the other safety features are the anti-lock brake system (ABS), electronic brake force distribution (EBD), electronic stability control (ESC), the traction control system (TCS) and the brake override system (BOS). Eight generations of Malibus have created a legend that has spanned half a century. More than 10 million have been sold around the world. In addition, over 350,000 have been sold in China since the nameplate’s local introduction in 2012.
