Revelation 20:4-6
4And
I saw thrones, and they sat on them, and
judgment was committed to them. Then I saw the souls
of those who had been beheaded for their witness to
Jesus and for the word of God, who had not worshiped
the beast or his image, and had not received his mark
on their foreheads or on their hands. And they lived
and reigned with Christ for a thousand years. 5But the
rest of the dead did not live again until the thousand
years were finished. This is the first resurrection.
6Blessed and holy is he who has part in the first
resurrection. Over such the second death has no
power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ,
and shall reign with Him a thousand years.

Rich man

1. Is the language literal or symbolic?
2. Jesus always taught the multitude in parables
Matthew 13:34 – All these things Jesus spoke to the
multitude in parables; and without a parable He did not
speak to them
Luke 16:19-31
Rich man
and Lazarus
1. Is the language literal or symbolic?
2. Jesus always taught the multitude in parables
3. What subject is Jesus trying to address?
4. If this is literal, then…
- Heaven is literally in Abraham’s lap
- Heaven and hell are within shouting distance
- We will enjoy heaven while watching people burn
- We will be unable to respond to their pleas for help
- We will worship a God who perpetuates this forever
John 11:45-48
Rich man
and Lazarus
Then many of the Jews who had come to Mary, and
had seen the things Jesus did, believed in Him.
46 But some of them went away to the Pharisees and
told them the things Jesus did.
47 Then the chief priests and the Pharisees gathered a
council and said, “What shall we do? For this Man
works many signs.
48 If we let Him alone like this, everyone will believe in
Him, and the Romans will come and take away both
our place and nation.”
45
John 11:49-50,53
Rich man
and Lazarus
49
And one of them, Caiaphas, being high priest that
year, said to them, “You know nothing at all, 50nor do
you consider that it is expedient for us that one man
should die for the people, and not that the whole
nation should perish.”
53
Then, from that day on, they plotted to put Him to
death.
John 12:10-11
Rich man
and Lazarus
But the chief priests plotted to put Lazarus to death
also,
11 because on account of him many of the Jews went
away and believed in Jesus.

Parable of the Weat and Tares
When is the harvest?
End of the age
When is the fire?
End of the age
When will the righteous shine?
End of the age
Galatians 1:3-4
3

Grace to you and peace from God the Father and our
Lord Jesus Christ,
who gave Himself for our sins, that He might deliver
us from this present evil age, according to the will of
our God and Father…
Romans 12:2
And do not be conformed to this world, but be
transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you
may prove what is that good and acceptable and
perfect will of God.
Ephesians 2:1-2
1
2
And you He made alive, who were dead in trespasses
and sins,
in which you once walked according to the course of
this world, according to the prince of the power of the
air, the spirit who now works in the sons of
disobedience…
2 Corinthians 4:3-4
3
4
But even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled to those
who are perishing,
whose minds the god of this age has blinded, who do
not believe, lest the light of the gospel of the glory of
Christ, who is the image of God, should shine on
them.
Luke 1:70
As He spoke by the mouth of His holy prophets,
who have been since the world began...
1 Corinthians 2:7-8
7
8
But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, the
hidden wisdom which God ordained before the ages
for our glory,
which none of the rulers of this age knew; for had
they known, they would not have crucified the Lord
of glory.
Matthew 12:32
Anyone who speaks a word against the Son of
Man, it will be forgiven him; but whoever speaks
against the Holy Spirit, it will not be forgiven him,
either in this age or in the age to come.
Hebrews 1:1-2
1
2
God, who at various times and in various ways spoke
in time past to the fathers by the prophets,
has in these last days spoken to us by His Son,
whom He has appointed heir of all things, through
whom also He made the worlds.
Mark 10:29-30
So Jesus answered and said, “Assuredly, I say to
you, there is no one who has left house or brothers
or sisters or father or mother or wife or children or
lands, for My sake and the gospel’s,
30 who shall not receive a hundredfold now in this
time—houses and brothers and sisters and mothers
and children and lands, with persecutions—and in
the age to come, eternal life.
29
John 11:26
And whoever lives and believes in Me shall never die.
Literally: Absolutely not die unto the forever
Matthew 18:8
If your hand or foot causes you to sin, cut it off and
cast it from you. It is better for you to enter into life
lame or maimed, rather than having two hands or two
feet, to be cast into the everlasting fire.
Matthew 25:41,46
41
Then He will also say to those on the left hand,
‘Depart from Me, you cursed, into the everlasting fire
prepared for the devil and his angels
46
And these will go away into everlasting punishment,
but the righteous into eternal life.
Jude 1:7
...as Sodom and Gomorrah, and the cities around them
in a similar manner to these, having given themselves
over to sexual immorality and gone after strange flesh,
are set forth as an example, suffering the vengeance of
eternal fire.
2 Peter 2:6
…and turning the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah into
ashes, condemned them to destruction, making them
an example to those who afterward would live ungodly.
Nahum 1:9-10
What do you conspire against the LORD?
He will make an utter end of it.
Affliction will not rise up a second time.
10 For while tangled like thorns,
and while drunken like drunkards,
they shall be devoured like stubble fully dried.
9
Psalm 37:20
But the wicked shall perish;
and the enemies of the LORD,
like the splendor of the meadows, shall vanish.
Into smoke they shall vanish away.
Malachi 4:1-3
1
2
3
“For behold, the day is coming, burning like an oven,
and all the proud, yes, all who do wickedly will be
stubble. And the day which is coming shall burn them
up,” says the LORD of hosts, “that will leave them
neither root nor branch.
But to you who fear My name the Sun of
Righteousness shall arise with healing in His wings;
and you shall go out and grow fat like stall-fed calves.
You shall trample the wicked, for they shall be ashes
under the soles of your feet on the day that I do this,”
says the LORD of hosts.
Isaiah 47:14
Behold, they shall be as stubble, the fire shall burn
them; they shall not deliver themselves from the power
of the flame; it shall not be a coal to be warmed by, nor
a fire to sit before!
2 Peter 3:1-13
Earth to be cleansed by fire
Called – The Day of the Lord
Earth and the works in it will be burned up
All these things will be dissolved
Elements will melt with fervent heat
To prepare for – New Heavens and New Earth
Acts 3:19-21
Repent therefore and be converted, that your sins
may be blotted out, so that times of refreshing may
come from the presence of the Lord,
20 and that He may send Jesus Christ, who was
preached to you before,
21 whom heaven must receive until the times of
restoration of all things, which God has spoken by
the mouth of all His holy prophets since the world
began.
19
Genesis 3:15
And I will put enmity between you and the woman,
and between your seed and her seed;
he shall bruise your head,
and you shall bruise his heel.
Revelation 21:4-5
4
And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes;
there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying.
There shall be no more pain, for the former things
have passed away.”
5
Then He who sat on the throne said, “Behold, I make
all things new.” And He said to me, “Write, for these
words are true and faithful.”

Ezekiel 33:11
Say to them: “As I live,” says the Lord GOD, “I have no
pleasure in the death of the wicked, but that the
wicked turn from his way and live. Turn, turn from your
evil ways! For why should you die, O house of Israel?”
John 3:16-17
16
For God so loved the world that He gave His only
begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should
not perish but have everlasting life.
17
For God did not send His Son into the world to
condemn the world, but that the world through Him
might be saved.
2 Corinthians 5:18-19
Now all things are of God, who has reconciled us to
Himself through Jesus Christ, and has given us the
ministry of reconciliation,
19 that is, that God was in Christ reconciling the world
to Himself, not imputing their trespasses to them,
and has committed to us the word of reconciliation.
18
2 Peter 3:9
The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as
some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us,
not willing that any should perish but that all should
come to repentance.
1 Timothy 2:3-4
3
4
For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God
our Savior,
who desires all men to be saved and to come to the
knowledge of the truth.
Isaiah 28:21-22
21
For the LORD will rise up as at Mount Perazim, He
will be angry as in the Valley of Gibeon—that He may
do His work, His awesome work, and bring to pass
His act, His unusual act.
22
Now therefore, do not be mockers, lest your bonds
be made strong; for I have heard from the Lord GOD
of hosts, a destruction determined even upon the
whole earth.
Isaiah 33:14-16
14
The sinners in Zion are afraid; fearfulness has seized
the hypocrites: “Who among us shall dwell with the
devouring fire? Who among us shall dwell with
everlasting burnings?”
He who walks righteously and speaks uprightly, he
who despises the gain of oppressions, who gestures
with his hands, refusing bribes, who stops his ears
from hearing of bloodshed, and shuts his eyes from
seeing evil:
16 He will dwell on high...

Revelation 19:1-3
1After
these things I heard a loud voice of a great
multitude in heaven, saying, “Alleluia! Salvation and
glory and honor and power belong to the Lord our
God! 2For true and righteous are His judgments,
because He has judged the great harlot who corrupted
the earth with her fornication; and He has avenged on
her the blood of His servants shed by her.” 3Again they
said, “Alleluia! Her smoke rises up forever and ever!”

Revelation 14:9-11
9Then
a third angel followed them, saying with a loud
voice, “If anyone worships the beast and his image,
and receives his mark on his forehead or on his hand,
10he himself shall also drink of the wine of the wrath of
God, which is poured out full strength into the cup of
His indignation. He shall be tormented with fire and
brimstone in the presence of the holy angels and in
the presence of the Lamb. 11And the smoke of their
torment ascends forever and ever; and they have no
rest day or night, who worship the beast and his
image, and whoever receives the mark of his name.”
Revelation 20:10
The devil, who deceived them, was cast into the lake
of fire and brimstone where the beast and the false
prophet are. And they will be tormented day and night
forever and ever.
