Job Description & Person Specification Date Last updated: 2nd June 2015 JOB DESCRIPTION Post title: Clinical Informatics Data Manager (Research) Academic Unit/Service: Primary Care and Population Health Sciences Faculty: Medicine Career pathway: ERE* *ERE category: Research pathway Posts responsible to: Professor in Public Health Posts responsible for: N/A Post base: Office-based Level: 4 Job purpose To provide methodological database support to researchers seeking to utilise Hampshire Health Record (HHR) data and other large datasets including information governance and advice on data extraction. To define coding for data searches and undertake interrogation and data extraction from the HHR and other secondary data sources. Key accountabilities/primary responsibilities % Time 1. Working with researchers to define relevant coding and extraction routines in SQL to 50% address research questions using the HHR and other complex databases. Acquisition and cleaning of data acquired from HHR and entering them into databases. 2. Maintaining readily accessible databases and systems for data management and analysis. Overseeing data governance. 10% 3. Developing programmes for the categorisation and analysis of data and undertaking preliminary analysis to identify trends and patterns in acquired data. 20% 4. Working with statisticians to analyse data using SAS, STATA, SPSS and other software packages. 10% 5. Liaison and collaboration with other researchers in PCPS Academic Unit, researchers using HHR and the data analyst in the Wessex CLAHRC Methodology Hub. External: Staff of the Hampshire Health Records in local NHS England Commissioning Support Unit including the Clinical Director. Collaborators/colleagues in other work areas and institutions as appropriate. Special requirements To be available to participate in fieldwork as required by the specified research project. To attend national and international conferences for the purpose of disseminating research results.
