TITLE
Maintenance/Custodial Worker

Mora Valley Community Health Services – All Departments
REPORTS TO
Executive Director

None
JOB PURPOSE
Provide routine and as needed maintenance and custodial services for
all MVCHS facilities and address safety and cleanliness concerns,
administer the organizations recycling program, ensure that tools,
materials and vehicles are maintained in good working order and are
available when needed
ESSENTIAL JOB RESULTS
1.
ARRANGE FURNITURE AND EQUIPMENT FOR THE PURPOSE OF PROVIDING ADEQUATE SETTING(S) FOR
SPECIAL EVENTS
2.
ASSIST MANAGEMENT AND STAFF WITH VARIOUS MAINTENANCE AND CUSTODIAL RELATED TAKS SUCH
AS TRANSPORTING AND/OR SECURING MATERIALS, CLEANING UP SPILLS, REPAIRING DAMAGES,
SWEEPING SIDEWALKS AND PARKING LOT OF SNOW AND ICE, ETC. WHILE EMPLOYING COURTESY AND
SAFETY
3.
MAINTAIN MVCHS BUILDINGS AND GROUNDS FOR THE PURPOSE OF PROVIDING A SAFE, CLEAN, AND
APPEALING ENVIRONMENT, WHILE PREVENTING DAMAGE AND/OR LIMITING LIABILITY EXPOSURE
4.
COORDINATE PROJECTS WITH MANAGEMENT AND STAFF TO ENSURE COMPLETION OF PROJECTS IN A
TIMELY AND EFFICIENT MANNER
5.
WORK INDEPENDENTLY TO ADDRESS REGULAR AND EMERGENCY REPAIRS AND GENERAL MAINTENANCE
THROUGHOUT ALL MVCHS FACILITIES TO INCLUDE BUT NOT LIMITED TO CLEARING CLOGGED DRAINS,
REPLACING FAUCETS, LIGHTING, HVAC FILTERS, CEILING TILES, ETC.
6.
MAINTAIN COMPANY VEHICLES IN A SAFE AND CLEAN CONDITION
7.
PERFORM A WIDE VARIETY OF GENERAL AND SEMI-SKILLED MAINTENANCE ACTIVITIES (CARPENTRY,
PAINTING, ELECTRICAL, ETC.)
8.
CONSULTS WITH AND KEEPS SUPERVISOR INFORMED OF ACTIVITIES, CURRENT AND FUTURE
MAINTENANCE AND CUSTODIAL NEEDS, MAINTAINS LOGS & SERVICE SCHEDULES
9.
REPAIRS FURNITURE AND BUILDING SYSTEM COMPONENTS FOR THE PURPOSE OF ENSURING A SAFE
CONDITIONS AND OPERATION
RESPONDS TO EMERGENCY SITUATIONS DURING AND AFTER HOURS FOR THE PURPOSE OF RESOLVING
IMMEDIATE SAFETY CONCERNS

ORDER AND/OR TRANSPORT A VARIETY OF TOOLS, EQUIPMENT, AND SUPPLIES

MAINTAINS ESTABLISHED FACILITY POLICIES AND PROCEDURES, OBJECTIVES, QUALITY ASSURANCE,
SAFETY, ENVIRONMENTAL AND INFECTION CONTROL STANDARDS
PERFORM ROUTINE PREVENTIVE MAINTENANCE AND/OR INSPECTION TASKS AS ASSIGNED TO ENSURE

PERFORM A VARIETY OF CLEANING DUTIES: SWEEPING, MOPPING, WAXING FLOORS; CLEANING
SURFACES SUCH AS LIGHT FIXTURES, BLINDS, CLEANING RESTOOM FACILITIES, VACUUMS, CLEANS WALLS
AND DOORS, WASHING WINDOWS, COLLECTING TRASH USING PROPER SANITATION PROCEDURES

REQUIRED JOB QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Job Qualifications
Education:
High School Diploma or GED
Bilingual English/Spanish Preferred
Experience:
3 year hands-on maintenance and construction experience; such as minor technical,
electrical, carpentry, painting and plumbing repairs.
Skills and Abilities









Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Skill-based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job to include; operating
equipment used in skilled trades, power and hand tools, etc.; adhering to safety practices; handling
hazardous materials; and planning and managing projects
Flexibility and ability to adapt to changing work priorities
Ability to problem solve and work with minimal supervision
Knowledge of OSHA regulations
Commitment to promoting a positive image to patients, clients, employees, and the public in general
Work in a stressful setting with frequency in changing priorities
Ability to operate a motor vehicle, which requires a valid driver’s license, and clearance for
unrestricted automobile insurance coverage
Share in and contribute to MVCHS mission, vision and goals
Working Conditions and Physical Demands





Work is performed in an interior and exterior medical/clinical environment
Will be exposed to strong cleaning solutions/chemicals
Continuous exposure to dust, dirt, disagreeable odors, and frequently exposed to organic material which
may be contaminated and/or infectious and require special handling
Moderate physical activity that requires carrying, climbing, crawling, hearing/listening, lifting, manual
dexterity, pulling/pushing, seeing, squatting/kneeling, sitting, standing and or walking several hours a day
May require handling objects up to 50 pounds
