Trustee Job Description MEMBER, BOARD OF TRUSTEES MISSION: In partnership with the Issaquah School District, the Issaquah Schools Foundation will drive resources for all students to achieve the promise of their academic potential. PURPOSE: To raise funds to finance the Issaquah Schools Foundation (ISF); to determine policies, procedures and regulations to accomplish the mission and operating objectives of the organization; and to monitor organizational performance. TERM: Three Years. Board trustees may serve up to three (total of nine years), three-year consecutive terms unless additional terms are specifically approved by the Board. ATTENDANCE AT MEETINGS/ACTIVE PARTICIPATION ON COMMITTEES: We are, first and foremost, a working, fundraising board. That means Trustees are expected to attend all Board meetings. One-half of meetings must be attended or removal from the board may occur. Each Trustee must also actively participate on at least one board committee AND actively support our two key Foundation events: All in for Kids in the fall, and the Nourish Every Mind Luncheon and Breakfast in the spring. Failure to actively participate on a consistent basis may result in removal from the Board. MAJOR FUNCTIONS: 1. Directly engage in the resource development efforts of the Foundation. 2. Establish, reappraise and revise the Foundation’s mission, strategies and objectives. 3. Formally and intentionally own and support the ISF mission, objectives, strategies and programs. 4. Set policies. 5. Oversee financial management and budgeting. 6. Engage in long-range planning and conduct periodic evaluations. 7. Meet all legal requirements. 8. Hire the Executive Director, and provide annual input to the ED’s performance. INDIVIDIAL RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Attendance: Attend all board meetings, training sessions and special meetings as appropriate. 2. Participation: Make a personally significant contribution to the organization with your time, talent and financial resources. The Issaquah Schools Foundation should be one of the top three charities to which you donate time and money. 3. Contribution: Actively participate on at least one Board committee. 4. Fundraising: Solicit funds and community resources; host at least one table at the Nourish Every Mind Luncheon or Breakfast, recruit other table captains, write personalized letters to donors Approved 8/15 during All in for Kids Campaign, and open doors for others to raise funds or broker resources for ISF. 5. Engagement: Be an ambassador for ISF in the community by being fully informed about ISF’s purpose, goals, objectives and programs. 6. Conduct: Make decisions on issues, policies, goals and objectives based on careful consideration of the facts. 7. Sign and abide by the Code of Conduct, Conflict of Interest and Confidentiality Policy. INDIVIDIAL COMMITMENTS: The Issaquah Schools Foundation equally values the time, talent and treasure of our board trustees. We ask that each trustee commit to two of the below categories by checking the appropriate boxes. □ Time: Volunteering on average 5+ hours per month in support of the Foundation outside of monthly board meetings.
