Word Wall Chapter 1 Part 2 Essential Questions: What is a civilization? What was life like in the earliest river valley civilizations? Objectives: SWBAT (Students will be able to) describe characteristics of life in ancient river valley civilizations. evaluate how geography effects the lives of people in a particular place Task: 1. Using your Pretest as a guide, highlight the vocabulary, people, and places that were marked incorrect. 2. These incorrect words will become the choices for your Word Wall Activities. 3. Choose one Word Wall Activity from the top two choices and one choice from the bottom two choices. 4. All Word Wall activities are due _________________________________________ Word Wall Activities 1. Using the incorrect answers from your Pretest create at least 10 Flash Cards using words and correct answers. Flash Cards can be made using paper templates or any online flashcard maker (Quizlet, Study Blue). Paper template is available from teacher. Index card may also be used. OR 2. Word Unscramble- Design a handout that can be used as a class activity. Chose 10 of your incorrect words, write them scrambled along with their definitions. Then make another copy and compete it unscrambling the words. Follow the example: NILIIZCAVOTI ______________________________ complex society AND 3. Word Pictures- Select two of your incorrect words and illustrate them on a piece of paper (fold paper in half). You may also use pictures from the Internet. On the back of the paper write the word and the definition. OR 4. Poetry- Write a poem related to our topic of study using as many incorrect words as possible from your pretest (at least 5). Poems should clearly include the meanings of the words.
