His Sacrifice Not Ours
God was trying to show Cain the costly sacrifice of sin
A.
It was not so much an issue of style as one of heart
1) The first ever murder was committed over religion
2) 1 John 3:12
3)
B.
Do not be like Cain, who belonged to the evil one and murdered his
brother. And why did he murder him? Because his own actions were
evil and his brother's were righteous.

His Acceptance Not Ours
It was Cain’s longing for acceptance that caused him to kill his competition
A.
We are not accepted because of what we did, but because of what He did
1) THE PHARISEE AND THE PUBLICAN
2) Luke 18:14
3)
B.
“I tell you that this man, rather than the other, went home justified

It is not whether He will accept us, but whether we will accept Him
1) “If you do what is right, will you not be accepted?” (vs. 7)
2) Acts 10:34-35
3)
“God does not show favoritism but accepts men from every nation
who fear him and do what is right.”

OTHER SCRIPTURES:
