At completion of this course, students may test for MCAS - Microsoft Certified Application Specialist certification. Principles of Manufacturing Prerequisite: none Grade level: 9-12 Credit: 1 Students acquire knowledge and skills in the proper application of principles of manufacturing, the design of technology, and the efficient production of technology, using a modular computerbased technology concept. ADVANCED LEVEL COURSES Accounting I Prerequisite: Business Information Management I or Principles of Manufacturing Grade level: 10-12 Credit: 1 Students investigate the field of accounting, including how it is impacted by industry standards as well as economic, financial, technological, international, social, legal and ethical factors. Audio Video Production Prerequisite: Business Information Management I or Principles of Manufacturing Grade level: 11-12 Credit: 1 Students will be expected to develop an understanding of the industry with a focus on preproduction, production, and post-production audio and video activities, while producing the CHS news broadcast for the school. Business Information Management II– ATC Certification Prerequisite: Business Information Management I Grade level: 10-12 Credit: 1 Students apply technical skills to address business applications of emerging technologies, create complex word processing documents, and develop sophisticated spreadsheets. At completion of this course, students may test for MCAS - Microsoft Certified Application Specialist certification. Business Law Prerequisite: Business Information Management I or Principles of Manufacturing Grade level: 11-12 Credit: ½ - 1 Students analyze the social responsibility of business and industry regarding the significant issues relating to the legal environment, business, ethics, torts, contracts, negotiable financial instruments, personal property, sales and real property. Digital and Interactive Media Prerequisite: Business Information Management I or Principles of Manufacturing Grade level: 10-12 Credit: ½ - 1 Students will analyze and assess current and emerging technologies, while designing and creating multi-media projects that address customer needs and resolve a problem. As part of the class, students will produce the yearbook, The Sregit. Human Resource Management Prerequisite: Business Information Management I or Principles of Manufacturing Grade level: 11-12 Credit: ½ Students recognize, evaluate, and prepare for a rapidly evolving global business environment that requires flexibility and adaptability. Students study recruitment, selection, training, development, and compensation. Principles of Business, Marketing, and Finance Prerequisite: Business Information Management I or Principles of Manufacturing Grade level: 10-12 Credit: ½ Students gain knowledge and skills in economies and private enterprise systems, the impact of global business, marketing of goods and services, advertising, and product pricing. Teen Leadership Prerequisite: None Grade level: 12 Credit: ½ Offers students a leadership curriculum designed to provide young people with essential life skills. The class involves goal setting, developing relationships, personal responsibility and many other activities. Web Technologies– ATC Certification Prerequisite: Business Information Management I or Principles of Manufacturing Grade levels: 10-12 Credit: ½ - 1 Through the study of web technologies and design, students learn to make informed decisions and apply their decisions to the field of information technology. At completion of this course, students may test for CIW - Certified Internet Webmaster Associate certification. Cisco Networking Prerequisite: BCIS, strong math skills Grade level: 11-12 Credit: 1 The Cisco Networking Academy Program is a comprehensive-learning program that provides students with the Internet technology skills essential in a global economy. The Networking Academy delivers web-based content, online assessment, student performance tracking, handson labs, instructor training and support, and preparation for industry standard certifications. The Cisco Certified Networking Associate (CCNA) portion of the program is offered here at CHS. The curriculum is divided into four “semesters,’ CCNA1, CCNA2, and CCNA3 AND CCNA4. CCNA1 AND CCNA2 are taken as a one-year course during the student’s junior year; CCNA3 and CCNA4 as a one-year course during the student’s senior year. Prospective students should have a general interest in how and why computers work.
