Research Paper Outline (50 point summative) Let’s look at an example of parenthetical citations within the research paper: One study found that exposure to media images decreases the body satisfaction in girls (Wertheim et al 47). Researcher James Thomas states that this body dissatisfaction occurs when “the individual accepts societal views of ideal weight and attractiveness and acts in a certain way to achieve the ideal body” (93). Research Paper Outline (50 point summative) Here is another example of a Supporting Detail and a parenthetical citation: • In the book, Mindset: The New Psychology of Success, the author makes a important statement when she states, “The developer of the IQ tests, Alfred Binet, did not design the test to give a person a score that is the measure of one’s intelligence” (Dweck 5). • Watch “In-Text Citations” https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XQ8fy7SPotM Research Paper Outline (50 point summative) Parenthetical Citations: • How will you write a parenthetical citation if you already stated the author’s name? • Just the page number (5) • What will you put in parenthesis if there is no author? • The title of the article, not the website • You may shorten this if it is a long title. • What if it is a website without page numbers; it is just one page? • (Rennings 1) Research Paper Outline (50 point summative) Use the rest of the class to do one of the following: • Complete Research Packets • Read Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde • Complete missing assignments Research Paper Outline (50 point summative) Works Cited Page: • To create your citation use the website bibme http://www.bibme.org/ • Choose MLA as the style. • The website will prompt you for information from this point. • Remember, when you copy/paste your URL (website address) into the bibme citation builder, it will NOT catch all of the information; such as the author, publisher, etc. • Your citation will be incorrect if you do not add these to your citation (Automated Bibliography Maker).
