elected president of the
United States

Feb 25, 1932: The German
state government of
Brunswick, in which the Nazi
Party participated, appointed
Adolph Hitler of Austria to a
minor administrative post this
month and on this day gave
him German citizenship. Hitler
was thus able to stand against
Hindenburg in the forthcoming Presidential election.
