To cope with being isolated from people he started to draw c. When he drew, he let all his imaginations come out i. “While he says this isolating experience left him forever feeling the outsider, and that this "psychic low" helped drive him, Mr. Glaser hardly emerged the tortured type. He can be moody, but mostly he's described as down-toearth, friendly, generous and secure” d. He believes that something traumatic has to happen in people’s lives to make them create their best work or at least inspire them to create i. "Invariably, my most talented students started drawing young and were reinforced," Mr. Glaser says. Pablo Picasso i. Was an artists that was just into his self (“egocentric and narcissistic” 1. He wanted all the attention to be on him when he was in a room 2. He wanted all the money and fame/accomplishments that he can get b. Morandi influenced by his: i. Was a modest artist ii. Simplicity iii. dedication 1. He was not interested in fame, money, or the women that came along with being a powerful artist. 2. He only painted a few portraits of people but most of his painting were landscapes and still lifes and sold his paintings for just $200 and made the painting personal to whoever he sold them to 3. Studied with him but was influenced before he met him, looked at his etchingings before he attended school in Italy c. The reason he was influenced by both men was because he felt you need to be influenced by some type of rationality and he could see his self in both of those artists. d. Also Morrison influenced him as well e. Glaser looks to artists and at movements before his time for inspiration and ideas when working on designs 2. The art movements: a. i. “for example, that a splendid Cubist-inspired poster for the Juilliard music school alludes to Picasso's 1921 painting "Three Musicians." Glaser has distilled its spirit and, if anything, exposed the painting's design elements rather than emulated it as a work of fine art.”
