Required Text(s) and Optional Text(s): MKTG 7 by Lamb, Hair McDaniel, South-Western Cengage Learning, ISBN: 978-1-285-09186-0, 2014. Course Instructional Objectives & Outcomes: 1. Obtain a basic understanding of the fundamentals of marketing, and how marketing is integrated and relates to the overall operation and success of a business. 2. Introduce and apply the ethical and social responsibilities of a business in the area of marketing. 3. Understand the current and potential customers of a company, and how they are identified and chosen through the process of segmentation. 4. Be able to develop and implement the various product related strategies of a company. 5. Develop the promotional strategies to communicate with a company’s various stakeholders. 6. Understand and develop the appropriate pricing strategies to best meet the needs of the company and its customers. 7. Be able to utilize various channel members to be able to obtain and deliver the necessary products for a business. Class Procedures for Inclement Weather: In the case of severe weather please stay abreast of the campus notifications relative to closure of the campus and cancellation of classes. Class Attendance: Class attendance is mandatory and unexcused absences beyond 2 will result in a 5 point reduction per absence from the course point total. Course Requirements: The following assignments will be required for this course: Chapter Exercises Each student will choose an exercise from the list of chapter exercises and turn in a full written report the last day that chapter is covered in class. If there is more than one exercise in a chapter then choose only one of them and hand that one in. If time permits the student may be asked to briefly and informally discuss their assignment with the class. Of the 19 chapters covered in the course the only the best 16 will be included in your final grade. Each assignment MUST be done individually, and a zero grade will be given if any students do an assignment together. There is a maximum point total per assignment of 25 points. Tests There will be four sectional tests given during the semester covering from 3 to 5 chapters, as detailed in the course schedule. Each test is worth a maximum of 100 points. There will be an optional comprehensive final given during finals week. If this is taken it will replace the lowest sectional grade in the calculation of class points. Assessment/Evaluation and Grading Scale: The course will be evaluated based on a series of content related exercises and four objective tests. The following values will be assigned to determine your course grade.
