Book of Aphorisms Project
Project Description:
In Tuesdays with Morrie, Mitch Albom shares many of the life lessons that Morrie taught him
throughout their friendship.
For this project, you will choose five quotes that reflect the life lessons (aphorisms) that Morrie shared.
The quotes that you choose will be used to create a small booklet of your own.
Your booklet:
On each page of your booklet will be an aphorism that you quote from Morrie.
On the back of that page will be a response from you explaining why you think this quote is important,
what lesson it is teaching, and how it applies to you or to others.
Your booklet will be neat, creative, and have a title.
You will also design your booklet cover.
Grading:
Quote: Each quote should be a thoughtful, true statement about life (2 points each)
Explanation of quote: Your explanation should be a thoughtful response that explains what the quote is
about, what it means to you, and how it applies to yourself or to others. Be sure to include an example.
The explanation for each quote is worth 6 points if completed as instructed. If your explanation is not
thoughtful and meaningful, you will not receive all 6 points. Your grade will be broken down as followed:
1-2 points - explanation is starting to make a simple point about quote
3-4 points - explanation provides an idea about the meaning of quote, but does not include an example
5 points
- explanation provides a thoughtful response about what quote means and a basic example
6 points - explanation is an elaborate, well-developed analysis of quote that shows in-depth
understanding.
Booklet cover: Your cover should be creative, neat, and consist of a creative title (5 points)
Grammar, conventions, and spelling: (5 points)
Most importantly: BE CREATIVE & HAVE FUN!
